Hubbub about the Hub

So Hasbro's new TV channel The Hub has been going for a few months, and I think it's off to a strong start. What particularly has impressed me is the lengths they've gone with Hasbro's core Franchises: they brought back some old school voice actors for Transformers, GI Joe's reboot is reminicient of the MIB style (which is being re-ran, too), and the roped in the mastermind behind Powerpuff Girls for My Little Pony.

Heck, they even killed a good guy in both TF and GI Joe in the first episode. That takes guts. And from what I've seen, these three shows are well written, decently animated, and overall good. Trifecta seems to be a good word for it.

I'd have to admit...I want to see me some freshly animated D&D - especially at the quality we're getting from the trifecta. 4e would translate well into an action series for kids, and it would get them into the hobby. Grow the brand, as it were.

Gendy's doing My Little Pony?

It's good to see that HAS is flashing their street cred on this. I could easily see a re-run D&D cartoon. We'll see how the movie re-launch does, no?

Though I guess a kid's cartoon channel and a movie entitled Book of Vile Darkness aren't necessarily compatible....maybe they'll PG-13 it and then make an animated version or something.

...I watched My Little Pony yesterday... I thought it was amusing. Please nobody judge me...

Okay, did a bit of research.

According to the OP, I figured the brains behind the new My Little Pony would have been Genndy Tartakovsky. Who did some awesome Power Puff Girls stuff, but who mainly helmed Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack, and Clone Wars (all of which are amazing series). Also did some stuff with the Batman animated series, and did the hilarious Korgoth of Barbaria short.

The actual brain behind Power Puff Girls was Craig McCracken, who also did the absolutely astounding Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. Not so much action-adventure-fantasy-sci-fi, but awesome, awesome stuff.

But the brain behind the new My Little Pony is Craig McCracken's wife, Lauren Faust. Who was behind such sweet stuff as MTV's The Maxx, The Iron Giant, and Codename: Kids Next Door.

All three of those folks are or were or have been wonder-buddies at various points.

But yes, I would absolutely watch a My Little Pony helmed by Lauren Faust. She has the touch of the awesome about her.

Makes me a little sad I don't do TV...;)

But what makes me happy is that apparently they're doing a Samurai Jack feature film with JJ Abrams's (Lost, Cloverfield, new Star Trek) production company and Fred Seibert's production company (Fairly Oddparents, Adventure Time).

Now if only Mo Willems was somehow involved....

This nerdgasm was brought to you by Cartoons. Hooray.

Well, the thread kinda slid sideways from what I was expecting...sorry about that.

4e's power system would work great as a cartoon (especially since that's a major complaint about 4e). In the right hands, it would not only be an awsome rockin' cartoon but an excellent marketing tool for getting kids involved with the hobby.
