HUGE SCOOP! Chris Perkins confirms my suspicions on unlimited Rituals

According to Chris Perkins, most non-combat Powers are now called Rituals and you can can "have/buy/collect" as many as you want and "use them without any drain on your pwoer resources".

Usable anytime you want to, collect as many as you want. Looks like Rituals are NOT just for casting classes, either. Very cool!

Well, incantations were ny favorite part of D20 modern, so I'm glad to hear this.

I don't mean to derail anything, but I hope a thread pops up with a comprehensive list of what Chris Perkins says here. Other than the ritual tidbit...

I skipped around a bit, around 12 minutes I heard that characters won't have a huge list of powers. Instead, they will replace their earlier powers. That sounds nice in theory.... but what if I want to keep my 1st level sleep spell, as well as have my 20th level mind fry spell? I'm not going to panic yet, but if I have to give up my Light cantrip to learn Fireball, I might be perturbed.

Law and Chaos are in, but they didn't go into how. Also, alignment was said to be non-mechanical... a story thing, but no "weapons that hurt a person of a certain alignment". No detect alignments.

Paladins need a god, any god. They are champions of the faith style characters.

Detect Magic is a part of the Arcana skill now (which needs to be trained)... and while for example the rogue doesn't have it, there are ways for him to acquire it. A lot of content though in that podcast, just mentioning a few things i heard in it.

Maybe they top out like one of the designers mentioned on gamer radio zero? The odd power curve he, er, waved. Top out at 10 that is. With Necromancer named level. 4, 4, 3, 3, 2.

But I'm guessing it's probably a little bit more numerically symmetrical. Just for ease of system futzing. So, let's say:

Light is a "Utility" spell in 4E. Fireball (or it's equivalent) is an Attack power. Wizards gain Utility and Attack powers separately. So a 30th level wizard will have 4-5 daily attack powers and 4-5 daily utility powers. You'll never have a 30th level wizard with 8-10 attack powers and 0 utility powers. They are gained seperatley.
