Human bias in intelligence tests

Maybe elephants are smarter then we thought, we just need to take into account their olfactory powers.

This reminds me of a conversation I had with a collegue. I was saying that humanity might be alone in the universe, not because intelligent life doesn't exist, but because we (and/or they) would not recognize or notice the intelligence of another species.

Or we might not recognise their capacity for intelligence. They might be a shade of blue, for example.
