Humor - OotS #443

Great strip and with a surprise ending too. What will happen after the battle though? Resurrecting Roy or replacing him with Hinjo would both work for me, though I do somewhat prefer Roy to Hinjo.

In any case, Xykon is one of my favourites and I am glad to see him competent!

You know, maybe I'm in the minority, but I like Roy. I still like heroic, honest characters. Fiction needs more of them.
I agree. Roy is probably my favorite character out of the whole strip. Not for the funny, but just general characterization. Yes he's a sarcastic smart-ass, but like the mouse said, in the end Roy is a hero. He could have very easily walked out on Sapphire City, and would have been justified since he and his friends (I seriously think that's how he now looks at the entire OotS, not just Durkon) had been lied to and manipulated. Instead, he put his personal issues aside and vowed to help save the world.

Roy is also one of my favorite comedic archetypes, the oft-overlooked but direly needed straight man. After all, just how funny would over half of these strips be if the rest of the group didn't have Roy to bounce their zaniness off of?

As for his attitude, given what he grew up with and puts up with on a daily basis, can you really blame him sometimes?

He's BLACK?!?!?!?
Well, he started a very deep brown skin tone in the comics begining, his skin tone was lightened a small amount to presumably make his facial expresions more readable.

. . . nevermind. :o

This Robin Hood: Men in Tights Moment was brought to you by hafrogman. Hafrogman, bringing you random movie quotes since 1982.

. . . And why not? It worked in Blazing Saddles!

What did we learn today? That yelling, "wait!" doesn't stop gravity. Even if you use full caps and a double exclamation mark.

Oh, noes. That'll leave a mark.

Why are you all assuming Roy is dead? He could be in the negatives, unconscious and dying.

He has crosses as eyes. Those are traditionally reserved for dead people in OotS.

I'm sure he'll be back, but I first hope we'll see a few funny strips with him and his dad in the afterlife.

Can't wait for Wednesday. Hopefully it'll be an early strip again, otherwise I won' t be able to see it before next Tuesday!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure of that as well. The Order wouldn't get along so well without him, and he's still got an Oath to fulfill. But yeah, while he's dead, he's bound to meet up with his dad in person, as well as Lord Shojo, leading to an interesting conversation..

"See? What'd I tell ya!? Maybe if you'd had some flight spells of your own..."

"Shut Up, Dad!"
