Yep, the oracle is the key to this plotline methinks.

As for not liking Roy, I would prefer to Belkar buy it by the dragn body dropping on him which gets rolled over by the head of a giant soldier which is fireballed into non-existence...but that's just me...:D

Nah, Zot! did it years ago at Comic Book Resources, but it's still cool. (And possibly where Rich saw it to begin with, since Scott McCloud is a big deal to a lot of comic creators.)

And thus, Xykon is reestablished as an actual competent villain, instead of just bony comic relief. Nicely done.

If you ask me, giving Roy an "out" ("come back and kill me several levels later") shows him to be incompetent. Lucky for him Roy didn't buy his argument and so had to be killed.

Nah, Elan survives.

Elan: Does this story have a happy ending?
Oracle: For you, yes.
Which, in turn, strongly suggests that Haley survives.

A nitpick, but wasn't Belkar supposed to kill two of those he listed to the oracle? Maybe I am just mis-remembering . . .

The exact wording of the question: "Do I get to cause the death of any of the following: Miko, Miko's stupid horse, Roy, Vaarsuvius, or you?" Comic Nothing there to say it can't be more than one...

And maybe it's just me, but do you really think that Elan would consider it a happy ending if his best friend Roy remains dead?

He wants Roy to be high enough level that he'll get XP for beating him. Otherwise, it's just a big waste of his time.
