Hunter's Mercy on a Bow

I'm trying to price out adding Hunter's Mercy 1/d as a free action to a bow.

What I've come up with-

2nd level spell (right?) * 4th Level caster * 2,000gp as a continous item * 4 (duration modifier) divided by 5 for 1/day, or 12,800gp.

The reason I used continous is to represent a free action to activate.

Thoughts?

thanks

Maybe price it out as a 6th-level spell (quickened hunter's mercy) at 11th-level caster x 1,800 (use activated) / 5 = 23,760 gp. Because this is an add-on to an existing item (a weapon, presumably a magical bow and because its a secondary power, I think you are supposed to multiply it by 1.5 for a total of 35,640 gp.

I'd make it spell-storing and dump the free action part. Much cheaper.

Drop the free action, make it use activated or command word activated for next round. Something like that. The free action thing always focks with item prices :).

(I'd go as far as to suggest a different bowstring to attach with once/day useactivated HM. If you wanna go into sniper mode just take 1 min to reattach the new string and make your sniper attack with it. It's the course I took for my deepwoodsniper in a previous game.)

It's for my Occult Slayer Barbarian, I need to be able to quick-draw the bow and ready a 'shoot in case of casting' action.

The problem I had with making it a 'quickened' spell was that it's a ranger only spell, and it would have to be an Epic Ranger with Improved Spell Capacity to cast it. Can't use a spell storing bow, no ranger available, and it's an illegal combo anyway.

OTOH, Boots of Haste are a continous item that is a free-action to activate, and have no cost modifier.

Looking at the Spell compendium now that I'm at home, it's only a first level spell.

Hmm, requires more thought.
