Hybrid Playtest part 2

I was thinking back to 3e where it wasn't at all.

And with the 4e multiclassing rules, you didn't have much too gain being a Barbarian multiclassing into Cleric, as you did the other way around.

Ah, ok. I just did it because I play a lot of living campaigns(where you sometimes don't have a balanced party when you sit down to play), and a little extra healing would help, plus there is some synergy with a strength Cleric's "hit and heal" powers.

Early in this thread, someone mentioned that the hybrid characters would in fact be in the June update of the Character Builder. My search fu must be weak, because I can't locate the dev statement or the verification in the 'forum thread.' Would someone mind providing linkage?

Also, does this mean that they will be LFR legal? I'm assuming no, but still..

Thanks.

4e hybrid classing seems very much like 2e multiclassing, except that you don't have to divide xp between classes or calculate the average of HD rolls every time you level up.

I'm glad they didn't call Hybrid Classes "Dual-classing". Then the system (either 2 at once, or slowly swapping in another class) would be all backwards from 2e!

I think certain things should be more available to Hybrids, including as I said above, Armor proficiencies. I don't know that the Hybrid Talent feat should only be taken once, per se. I think there are interesting things that can be done with characters that have more freedom, if they pay the cost in Feats. Not all Paragon Paths are optimized, and if I have a Fighter/Mage Elemental Tempest, I don't see why they can't also have the option of scale mail.

And that Deva/Avenger//Swordmage is just one example of a character. The rest of the options are what matters, not just a particular example. It's like banning Asprin pills because some people use them dangerously. Avoiding rare possibilities makes for bad general legislation.
