D&D 5E hypothetical - a giant capturing downed pc's while rest of party fights on? rule for this

Not an even split though, only a single person is arguing that there should be a normal opposed grapple contest. You can pretty much always find at least one contrarian eager to argue against any position, no matter how obvious it seems to everyone else. :)
I'm not arguring he has to do this i even said the opposite and that he didn't have to if he wanted. But he did ask for the rules on this matter too, and any rulings aside, the rules themselves don't specifically have unconcious creature automatically fail a grapple check though as written, nor are contests. That is what i'm saying.

They also don't specifically say a dog can't be a paladin, but we aren't playing by Air Bud rules here. :P

I see no reason to assume there's a chance of failure, unless its Butterfingers the hill giant or something. I'd rule that an unconscious person is essentially an unattended object unless someone is within 5 feet to interfere with the giant picking them up.

Its more like dog might be paladin as it doesn't mention any race, but not bladesinger as it does mention what race is part of it, which exclude dog. :)

In this case, it specifically says what effect it has on you when you suffer from that condition, and it specifically affect certain saving throws and attack rolls, but not ability checks. Since the game element tells you what it does, anything it doesn't do is therefore not part of it.

For exemple when people ask if you can attack or cast spell while grappled, you can since it doesn't specifically say you can't. What you say equal to saying they couldn't because the condition doesn't say so.

So you'd give an unconscious person a standard roll in an arm wrestling contest? I mean, there's no penalty noted, right?
