I am Dumbledore of Many Colors!!

Now that Richard Harris has passed on (moment of silence, please), rumors are starting to float around that the actor who will be replacing him as Albus Dumbledore in the third Harry Potter Movie...

Will be none other than Christopher "Count Dooku/Saruman" Lee.

That's going to be odd, to say the least. Don't get me wrong, Lee is a fantastic actor, and he's got more screen presence than almost anyone else alive, but...

Well, I've never seen him play a nice guy. Not once. Ever. And he certainly doesn't have the comforting, grandfatherly voice that Harris had.

Still, if it's true--and I stress, to date these are only rumors--I have to admit I'll be anxious to see how he pulls it off.

I think Christopher Lee can pull it off, he's a great actor. Warmth will be more difficult, as his voice is a little on the harsh side. However, that may be becasue of his role and he could very well surprise us.

Hmm. The rumor I've been hearing is that the guy to take the job is most likely Harry Robinson, who was Harris' double during the filming of the first two movies. Apparently he's the spitting image of Harris, and can do the Dumbldore voice as well.

*shrug*. We shall see.

Christopher Lee has played a few good guys. He was Sherlock Holmes in Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace" (1960)"Sherlock Holmes and the Leading Lady" (1990 tv) & "Incident at Victoria Falls" (1991). In 1970, he played Mycroft Holmes in "The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes." In the Hammer movie, "The Hound of the Baskervilles", Christopher Lee played Sir Henry Baskerville.

He is a great actor & brings his talents to any role that he plays. I can see him as Professor Dumbledore.

I was just watching the rebroadcast of the Fox Report and in their "G" Block they reported that the 'front runner' for the role is Christopher Lee. They futher reported that Lee was approached to play the role in the first movie but he turned it down because he was too busy.

From IMDB rumor:

"The favourite to take over the role is an actor named Harry Robinson. He's apparently a spitting image of Harris, and has already doubled for Harris in some films. A source on the set says, "The producers...have told Harry there's an 80 per cent chance of him getting the part. He's already been told to start practicing Dumbledore's distinctive deep voice." Last night Robinson said, "I'd love the role but I can't talk about it.""

Why? Can you tell the difference between Richard Harris and his double, Harry Robinson, on the first HP film?

Huh?

No, I mean we shall see whether it's Christopher Lee or Harry Robinson. We shall see which rumor is true.

And, if it is Robinson, we shall see how good a Harris impersonation he does. There is a difference between being a double and being the prime actor. If there were no difference, they'd have used Robinson in the first place, 'cause he'd have been cheaper :)

There is a huge difference between being a double for an actor, and playing a role. I would hope they'd choose Lee, for acting reasons. I've nothing against the other guy, but Dumbledore has to have an immense presence, and Christopher Lee would fit that so much better than nearly anyone else...

Anyway, Christopher Lee has to be in Harry Potter! It's about the only fantasy franchise he's NOT in at the moment! :D
