I attack his ring!?

Well, there is one problem on this kind of DM's deed. Why an enemy attack the PC's ring instead of himself? Unless the opponent know that item is significantly strong, it is unrealistic.

How about using Ethereal Filcher or other nimble pickpockets? They do have their reason to target that ring.

Is it just one specific ring or do you want to destroy some random items? Then you might try a pool of acid and a suggestion. Worked pretty well on my low WIS rogue.

A pool of acid will not work even if your rogue stuck his hand in the acid with the ring on. By the rules your ring isn't an unattended magic item therefor, the acid would have to kill you before it could make an attack on your ring. Now, if your rogue keeps his hand in the acid until he is dead... then he really is a low wisdomed rogue.

"I suggest you remove your ring and drop it in this handy pool of tarnish-removing solvent." ;)

Hmm, I don't remember the exact situation why our rogue has lost some of his items. Maybe he rolled a 1 on his save (and each open worn item is affected and has to save separately) or the acid pool was treated like a gray ooze:

from the SRD:
Acid (Ex): A gray ooze secretes a digestive acid that quickly dissolves organic material and metal. Any melee hit deals acid damage. The ooze’s acidic touch deals 40 points of damage per round to wood or metal objects. Armor or clothing dissolves and becomes useless immediately unless it succeeds at a Reflex save (DC 19). The acid cannot harm stone. A metal or wooden weapon that strikes a gray ooze also dissolves immediately unless it succeeds at a Reflex save (DC 19).

The pool's damage wasn't 40 points per round but enough to destroy some precious items . If the objects are worn or held by a PC they get a save to avoid destruction, if not, they'll receive 40 points of damage (of course, that's only my interpretation).

fl8m, if you want to remove some items from your PCs, use a black pudding or gray ooze...:D

Bebilith destroys armor and shields.
Any time an AE damage spell hits a character and a 1 is rolled for a saving throw. One item needs to make a save or be destroyed.

There is a demon Babu I think with acid skin which requires ST for the weapons that hit them. There is a Para-elemental with the same property.

Some information carries High prices(in the form of a magic item)

Summon Planar Aly There may be a need for this spell to be cast and the being my request a magic item.

It's not only the ring i want to get rid of they also have some pesky SR 40 mantles i'd prefer they didn't keep.

I'm not sure about how to actually telekeneticly target the ring I probably won't use it since there don't seem to be any clear rules for it.

The Suggestion spell is a good idea I'll have to try that, the weaponmaster has a terrible will save.

Of course most opponents will have no reason to attack the pc's items. but a clever wizard or 2 who figures out why all his spells are fizzling against them might.

Thanks for all the help! My pc's are sure to hate me having any of this information. Heck, I might hate having it when they decide they don't like the npc's fancy magic items :)

It doesn't sound like an item is the problem...rather the PCs have more magic than you want to allow as a DM...its done so now have to recover....I suggest a one time application of

Disjunction
Abjuration
Level: Magic 9, Sor/Wiz 9
Components: V
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Area: All magical effects and magic items within a 30-ft.-radius burst
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Will negates (object)
Spell Resistance: No
All magical effects and magic items within the radius of the spell, except for those that the character carries or touches, are disjoined. That is, spells and spell-like effects are separated into their individual components (ending the effect as a dispel magic spell does), and permanent magic items must make successful Will saves or be turned into normal items

This is only a one time fix however.....you control the amount of wealth they encounter and what items they can find or make...determine your comfort level on how much magic is ok with you for PCs to have and then DM.

One final comment, if that sounded harsh...I think every DM has encountered such a situation before, the trick is to see it, recognize it, and either learn to DM it or change how you DM in the future.

I know I have.

Good Luck,
Forsythe
