It could be the slow and shifting GSL, comitment of the "mid-majors" to making their own stuff, warriness about the 3E glut, disapearing FLGS, probably some combination...but 4E third party material has not caught on in the same way as it did in 3Es D20 hey day.

But it is coming. Much of it is good. And I hope to see more!

In theory, I have no general objection against 3PP stuff in either 3.x or 4E. But aside from using 3PP d20 Systems in the first place, I never used and have never seen used 3PP material in our games.

Is there such a thing as a 3e 3rd party publisher anymore? Would this require WotC to be the primary publisher of 3e, which is not currently the case as they ceased publishing (and now even selling) any 3e material. I voted 3e and 3pp but it seems to me that a company other than Wizards of the Coast must be considered the primary supporter of 3e material.

Personally I use Paizo at the moment as my main publisher of 3e, with active support coming from other publishers.

I voted "no" to both 3e and 4e, but its not entirely accurate...

I have used some very limited 3pp stuff. Mostly, either Necromancer, Gamemastery, and DCC modules (and any associated material from it, such as new spells or items). Also, I did allow a PrC found on a fansite for my artificer (since non-Cannith WotC artificer PCs are nonexistent). Oh, and I used Monte's ranger until 3.5 came out.

BUT

I haven't used 3pp monsters, spell, magic items, classes, race, prestige classes, feats, etc. For the most part, WotC satisfied my need for these things and I never found need to look at unofficial sources for them.

This may change with Pathfinder, but right now I've been happy with my 99.9% WotC games.

I generally allow 3PP stuff, it it's good and I like it. But for 4E, I haven't seen a lot of good stuff yet - certainly nothing on the level of the Monte's Book of Eldritch Might (especially 2 & 3).

Cheers, LT:

I probably used more 3rd party stuff in 3.x than I did wizards.

This time around, there is less of it *sigh*, but I still use what I can find. Monster books and splats are things I enjoy.
