I have a Battlecat

Not having wealthy parents, my selection of toys was rather limited as a child. As I recall, I had two Masters of the Universe action figures, Battle Damage He-Man and Ram Man. I never had a Battlecat. I stuck with GI Joe and Transformers with a little Star Wars for the most part.


I gave all of my toys away in 1988 or 89. I hadn't played with them for a good two years at that point and didn't figure on wanting them ever again.

I had a ton of GI Joe and a few Transformers as well. My brother and I even had the USS Flagg aircraft carrier. But I think we ditched all of those in stages, between three cross country moves in '87, '90, and '93.

I noticed the excellent classic Optimus Prime behind your Battlecat.

(Wonder if that would be a fun or just weird crossover...)

GI Joe and Transformers had a crossover series in the 80s, when Marvel had the licenses and was publishing individual comic series for both. I had a subscription to GI Joe for a while but only a few issues of Transformers. I did enjoy the writing of both and how it was clearly aimed at a bit of an older audience than the cartoons.

Looking back, I can't believe someone greenlit that monstrosity of a playset. The high price meant most families couldn't afford it and it's 7 foot length meant few people had a place to put it. My father was in the army, so we moved frequently and that meant purging possessions every few years.

There's also the time Spider-Man webbed up Megatron.

I watched all those old cartoons, but the only action figures I ever had were the old Kenner Star Wars line. I was really good at losing the weapons.
