The US is weird, but geeks-with-money who paint their vehicles can be found all over the world. I'm in the UK and I regularly see a Scooby Doo van and a car painted like the Blues Brothers car around town.

It was tweaked a bit to connect to an existing Action Man IP, and branded as Action Force in the UK. There were a few generations of the toys, getting closer to and incorporating more of GI Joe directly over time and apparently once Hasbro got full control of the line from Palitoy in 1985.

Beat me to it (by a long margin...obviously). I was just about to say this. The intro was very similar to the US one, but with different words to it.

Action Force was the name for the original G.I. Joe cartoon.
