I hear Gamespeak!

While at lunch yesterday, my wife and I went to the local ritzy Japanese steak house where they cook the food in front of you. It was a nice, tasty, filling lunch. As you might know, at such places, small parties get seated together around the grill.

While finishing up, I overheard some familiar sounding words coming from the couple seated acoss from us. "item which gives her +2 dexterity and +2 strength." Aha... I hear gamespeak!

It was a little far to hear, but I did pick up things like the man informing the woman with her that +2 saves vs. magic is a dwarf racial ability. I did pick up enough to catch that they sounded like they were involved in an extended campaign (drat... no new player prospects!), but I just found it affirming to know that lots of us are out there.

You have negleted your responsbility as a gamer and enworlder though!
You're supposed to introduce yourself and bring them into the enworld!

they musttttttttttt join ussssssssssssss.

That's always cool when something like that happens. My current group was discovered that way -- my wife overheard the words "D&D" at church in a conversation in the hallways after meetings were over, and the rest is history.

gamers eat too. so it is not surprising you encountered some. what is surprising is your lack of tact. come on now...eavesdropping on someone else's campaign. it almost sounds like you tried to yoink a few ideas from them. ;)

I can often be found in such establishments. I run an undersea campaign. I like sushi. :D

You say that like it's a bad thing. :)

I would have said hi to them, though. :)

I was at a Hops down here and heard gamespeak and was with my "group" or at least a writer of mine...introduced myself and gave them my e-mail card abd sent them some free product. They did not know about d20 on;y about 3.0 WotC stuff, thought I would introduce them to it. It was fun!!!!

 :p

What? Didn't you hear me say no new player prospects? If you aren't a new player prospect, you are dead to me! ( j/k ;) )

Actually, my wife said the same thing, but she didn't hear them. I just had to get back to work and am not as social as my wife, obviously.
