I hope for another multiclass feat for monks

Actually, do you need Unarmed Combat in the hybrid Fighter/Monk case? Just take Brawler style for the +2/+4/+6 prof bonus to unarmed strike, and since you're a hybrid you can use ki foci and add the enhancement bonus to weapon attacks with weapons you're proficient with.

What I'm not sure about is whether the brawler fighter is technically "proficient" with unarmed strike. It's an improvised weapon in the PHB, listed separately from the simple/military categories, and while brawlers get a proficiency bonus the class feature never specifically grants proficiency.

For what it's worth, "Monk Unarmed Strike" is listed as a weapon in the Character Builder. It seems to me that the designers intend for Monks' unarmed attacks to be set apart from any other class attempting an unarmed attack.

The OP was under the impression that Unarmed Strike couldn't be used with Monk attack powers. Thus, the explanation.

What difference does it make? The [W] damage of an Unarmed Strike is never called on in the powers (at least, not that I noticed) and as an Implement, Unarmed Strike can't be enchanted.

I'm missing the significance of it all, obviously.

TAKERU:

I don't quite remember, but didn't Flurry of Blows just give an extra attack in 3.x? And isn't that about what it does now? It only does static damage, but the damage is decent and it doesn't require an attack roll.
To be true, it seems more like extra damage static damage, much like Gnoll's Swift Bite. When still on preview, FoB was a power with implement keyword, and as such, received implement bonuses. Seems like it too, happens no more. Worse, not really extra damage, but secondary damage, making it more susceptible to Damage Resistance...

A Paragon Hybrid Fighter/Monk could use Brawling Style with the monk's Unarmed Combat to get +4 proficiency, and then +6 proficiency with the unarmed strike.

Hmmm...
OMG!
Unintended proficency flush!
Well... Monk's 'Unarmed' Strike maybe counts as an unarmed "weapon", like spiked gauntlets, thus, better bonuses overlaps?

I mean, there are plenty of superior stuff now (weapons, implements) and that number tends to increase. It wouldn't hurt if someone wants to fight with bare knuckles or kicks, when there are a bunch of defensive, stout, high critical and the like to improve armed combatants more.

Also, I've seen lots of threads from people wanting to 'beat dragons with boxing punches' and the like. To be true, waiting for Psionic Power to give us stuff to fight unarmed like monks seems another endless waiting... Even more if you think that Class Feature is not psionic at all!

Psionic Power should present us instead with new monk builds, instead of a mundane feat like this. Please, WoTC, Dragon Magazine is better suited for such stuff!

Uh... so, people, If we just let this topic sink, Wizards will never notice what we want. Aren't there no more members here wanting the feat to come soon? So lets say it.

Think about Dark Sun, per example. People punching and kicking would be really awesome, since weapons are not that common there. Think about warforgeds hitting with their steele hends. Maybe even a rogue/monk able to hit key points in body anatomy to get some extra effects!

(I double-posted above... there any way I can erase just one of them?)

Thanks!

There are some WotC people on these forums, but these are not their forums. Perhaps you might consider starting a similar thread there? It certainly can't hurt.

Heh, a Warforged wouldn't last 2 minutes in a city in Athas. It'd be killed and stripped down for scraps before you could blink.
