I love Irony, WotC forums Down Again

I'm sure that WOTC is very sensitive to the important business needs of allowing people to complain about them and insult them on their message boards, but sometimes, even if you're not WOTC, you just have to do site maintenance.

Surprise forum maintenance does not actually qualify as forum maintenance.

Are we sure they're not just purging the system of overly negative posts?

More likely they've turned over the archived posts to the FBI to track down the people who've been issuing death threats against them.

Just had a weird thought- what if the Digital Initiative (tm) is some kind of Paranoia-like effort to get us all enslaved to WotC. They're installing their hypnotic transbrain devices as we speak. "The Computer is your friend."

...Sure, of course not. Surprise Forum Maintenance is a Surprise, and Forum Maintenance is not. But wait, is that logical?

Some Forum Maintenenace is a surprise. All Forum Maintenance is Forum Maintenance. All Surprise Forum Maintenance has to be Forum Maintenance then, right?

Yeeeeah, no.

If my car suddenly blows a rod, strands me on the side of the highway and I get towed to a garage, what they perform there is not "maintenance," it's "repair."

Maintenance is when I plan to take it into the shop to stop just such a thing from happening.

Ya know, I thought maybe including the word irony in the title would indicate the humorous aspect of this, a planned change. Apparently, not.

now that's irony.

you need to add starch to the title mang

Yeah, perhaps there is irony in posting something ironic on an internet forum and expecting ironic responses.

Perhaps I'm just not as good a communicator as I need to be, especially when typing on line and not talking to people.

Perhaps I should just take the afternoon off and go golfing....

so many perhaps...

How does the fact that the marketing guys and the IT guys can't even coordinate their downtime to coincide better with major announcements make me feel confident that they'll be able to coordinate building and testing a new product on a new infrastructure?

The day I find a company where the marketing department communicates well with an IT department is the day I give up engineering and switch over to IT. The marketing department communicating with ANY other branch of a company is normally a time for celebration all thoughout the cubeland.
