I met Neil Gaiman! (sorta)

I got to go to a Neil Gaiman discussion and signing last night at Joseph-Beth booksellers in Charlotte. Neil did a reading from Anansi Boys, answered some questions, and signed books. I got my copy of Anansi Boys signed.

He was funny and personable and a good reader. He talked about Mirrormask, a new short story collection coming out next year, the new kids book he's working on called The Graveyard Book, some other film stuff, and the fact that the Sandman's 20th anniversary is coming up and so he's beginning to think of returning to the Sandman-verse soon. He also mentioned his new Marvel mini-series about the Eternals. It was pretty cool.

I met him last year when he came to Bristol promoting the Wolves In The Walls. He was most entertained that he was reading a book written for children to a room full of adults. I had a brief discussion with him on the subject of jam in modern fiction.

My cat later ate my signed copy of Wolves in the Walls. He tells me it tasted very good.

Gotta admit, I didn't realise Anansi Boys was out yet. I'll be ordering it from Amazon right now. Now I tell you!

Is this becoming the "I Met Neil' thread? Looks like.

I met the man in Toronto a few years ago. He drew my wife and I a picture of Dream, and spent the next few minutes ignoring me and discussing with my wife what the most commonly misspelled woman's name is in the English language.

"Guenevere', he said.

Met him when he visited the Philippines a few months back.

He signed my book of American Gods and wrote "Dream Dangerously" on it. Can't wait to read Anansi Boys.
