I must be the only crazy person here....

I like Sword and Fist the most of all the splatbooks. Always have.

I think the "vile" contents of Dragon 300 was pretty tame, except for a couple of spells, and I've seen worse game material than those spells elsewhere.

I like Monster Manual II quite a bit. I give it at least 7 out of 10.

I like gnomes, but I've never been able to quite figure out what niche they fill.

I would use one of these...

It looks like Dagger75 isn't the only crazy one in here :p

For me I like most of the classbooks (except Song & Silence *yawn* ) and found a lot of stuff that has found its way into my games.

Dragon 300 is just another issue to me (and probably my last one - not becaus eof the 'vile' content but rather its usefulness to me has steadily declined since about issue 290. I decided that I'd stop (re: buying every issue sight-unseen) at 300 then wait for some contents listing of each issue thereafter. Does give me almost the entire 3E run though 275-300 (I think only 273 & 274 are the two I'm missing that were published since 3E hit the shelves).

As far as Gnomes go I allow players to play them if they want to. I wouldn't limit their choices just because I may or may not like them. I have DMed maybe a half dozen players in my time that played Gnomes. All were quite memorable (moreso than any Halfling or *shudder* Kender that I've seen played). I can always shove in a Gnomish villiage into the Scarred Lands if anyone really, really (and gives me a stellar background :D ) wants to play one.

'Course all this is IMHO and IME.

Sword and Fist: Monks love it (amulet of mighty fists). All the rest leave it, unless they want to be a duelist or OBI.

Gnomes: IMC, I 'fixed' them by simply changing their favored class from Illusionist (what crack were they smoking when they came up with this one???) to sorceror. Secondly, I took their +2 Con and changed it to +2 Int and Cha. Balances much more nicely with the -2 to Str.

BTW, one practical use for gnomes I've seen is as alchemy monsters. The single most annoying 1st level character I've ever seen was a gnome with 18 Int, 4 ranks in alchemy, and skill focus alchemy. The moment the party got into a fight, the tanglefoot bags and smokesticks would start flying, quickly followed by acid and alchemist fire. It drove the GM nuts.

Okay I have to admit this.

I like the Sword and Fist splat book, even with all its flaws.

AGREED!

It has the best group of, mechanics-wise, prestige class abilities ever, not only a bunch o´ bonuses with fancy names...
Great feats also... not those +2/+2 for 2 different skills, just like that stinking song and silence...

the best feats and classes, IMO, are those that provide us with OPTIONS, NOT ONLY BONUSES.
thas why power attack and expertise are still the best...

I have to agree about the illusionist thing. BTW, how did it enter into the DnD mythos that gnomes favored class is illusionist? Especially when the "common" idea of gnomes is as tinkerers(even a relatively mainstream product like the Warcraft games has gnomes as inventors making flying gyro ships).

Anyone know?

They were illusionists (Well, tricksters, who used magic for the tricks) before Dragonlance... Dragonlance, with the minoi (tinker gnomes), was more or less where the whole gnome=tinker thing got started, I believe.

I also dislike gnomes. Infact, I think they should've kept the +2 Int/-2 Wis

I havn't read Dragon yet, but I have it on my shelf.

MMII rocks.

Sword and Fist is Okay.

I seek BoVD.

I love Kobolds.

i like S&F fine. i really like the duelist idea, and next time i play will paly one if i don't play a wizard AGAIN.

MM2 sounds good, but it hasn't made it here yet.

gnomes exist in my campaign but thats more in case someone shows up who loves them, not cos i really care.

dragon 300: well, again, its not ehre yet, but i sounds ok. there's been something i've liked in lots of dragons recently. and i really liek the monster cultist concept, so there!
