Correct. Personally, I pretty much ignored the "tinker gnome" transition gnomes made after Dragonlance. I liked the original "practical joker" idea much better. I always got the impression that dwarves were much more suited to building machinery anyway, and the whole "Rube Goldberg" nature of Dragonlance gnomes always bugged me.
