So Im starting a new campaign with no monastic history
but they do have a god of peace so ...
Monks and clerics of peace are not allowed to use lethal force against any human, demi-human or monsterous humanoid. (from vow of non-violence in BoED)
They should try and talk others out of killing, and will not allow anyone they defeat to be killed. They may contiune to travel with violent people, in hopes of converting them.
They are not allowed to use slashing or piercing weapons at all, but net and
lasso are added to known weapons (not monk weapons)
Bonus Feats: Improved Grapple, Deflect Arrows and Improved Disarm.
(each chosen to end a fight with humanoid opponents)
they can multiclass freely as clerics of peace.
The rival order belongs to the god of punishment -
Monks and clerics of punishment can either do so out of obligation (LN) or enjoyment (LE)
the chain is the gods favored weapon (nerfed spike chain)
not automatic for monks, but most clerics take the war domain.
Bonus feats: Stunning Fist, Combat Reflexes, Improved Trip
(each is designed to set up target for more punishment.)
may multiclass freely as clerics of punishment.
The campain has no actual evil humanoids native to the area, using evil subraces of dwarves (derro) and halflings (similar to goblins)
most of the enemies will be planar, dragons, or bestial.
The problem is the two orders are not balanced, the monks of peace need some advantage to balance their penalties. the BoED Vow gives a +4 to DC for spells and stunning fist as long as no lethal damage is inflicted.
which dosent work as well as I see stunning fist as "hold still so we can beat you more" and not every monk will multiclass as clerics.
Any suggestions for benifits for a monk of peace?
