I need help getting my artwork in my signature.

I finally figured out that the file was too big because of the ppi, or pixels per inch, not the actual number of pixels. Of course, if the pixels per inch makes the file exceed the maximum number of bytes, then you're going to have a problem too. Thanks everyone who responded. The specific advice was just what I needed to help me muddle my way through. I'm not happy with the result, but I think it looks that way because I had to dump a lot of pixels to make the picture fit the specs. I need to find one, or make one, that isn't so dense, a line drawing, maybe some pen-and-ink stuff. The pencil looks great on paper, but when you reduce its ppi for scanning purposes, and then reduce both the size and the pixel count for posting purposes, the image just doesn't translate how I'd like.
I could make a link, I think, to one of my drawings, but it will take some additional education and practice.
Anyway, ya'll were very helpful. I'm glad that someone(s) who knew something to try finally looked at this thread. :)

Glad you got it to work!

If you feel a lot of the quality was lost, you could consider cropping the higher-resolution image.

Just and idea. :)
