I own a living miniature of a dire mammal...

Okay, I don't really own it. Three days ago, someone asked me to take care of her rat and hamster while they are on vacation. So the two creatures are in their cage. But then, the hamster is so cute I decide to take it with me and put it on my desk. I must say it's a tiny hamster less than three inches long. Being so small, he won't try to jump from the desk (and run who knows where), as jumping from the desk would be as for us jumping from a cliff. So I let him run on the desk while I am working on the computer (yes, it happens sometimes, that I do actual work). And then, I notice the tiny hamster close to a mini (a highlander wielding a battleaxe) which is here among the mess of my desk. It's when I realize that I have found the perfect living mini to portray a dire badger of 9 hit dice!! The size matches peeerfeeeectly!! LOL! I couldn't believe it! :D

Thanks. I have been thinking of this (although I won't do it): lets have a gaming session where (as a DM) I plan to have the PCs meet a dire badger. So, when it happens, I put the tiny hamster on the battlemat. The first mini he turns his nose at (the creature is always sniffing anything it comes across), is the PC who has been attacked by the dire badger. Of course, if the hamster doesn't pay attention to the minis, the dire badger didn't attack the PCs...

And the odds of that happening are zero to none. I have owned many hamsters in my lifetime and have found out that they are nothing if not inquisitive in brand new surroundings.

[fescious mode]My parents were nothing if not ecstatic when my sisters hamster got free of its cage one time[/fescious mode]. It roamed the house for a week until we found it!

BTW, I got a good laugh a second ago when I noticed your new custom user title.
