i seriously need help. are there psionics in middle earth?

perhaps mind magic instead of psionics.

mind-magic is a common term for psionics and defines it pretty well.
essentially, psionics are natural talents that sometimes mimic spells.
it isn't something you can learn, it is only something that can be improved on by dilligent practice and willpower, unlike magic which can be learned by almost anyone

Ah, but the elves didn't even consider their cloaks 'magical'. Magic is very largly subtle within Middle Earth. Once you clear out the displays some innate psionic powers would be a nice way to codify a lot of stuff with game rules.

In otherwords, a sorcerer.

*badabing* Thank you, thank you ladies and gentleman, I'll be hear all week... Try the veal!

On a more serious note, I'm not sure what your asking here.

Are you asking if DnD-brand psionics exist in Middle Earth? Then no. But neither does DnD magic.

If your asking if magic in Middle Earth doesnt need funny words and dances, well, sure. But magic in middle earth is really very vauge and nebulous.

What is it your asking?

except psions seem more like sorcerers than sorcerers do...

Given that there are, what, maybe seven or eight people in all Middle Earth that can do magic of any sort I'd think the question is rather moot. You've got Gandalf and the rest of his coterie. You've got the vague and purposefully ill-defined magic that Galadriel (and presumably Elrond) possesses. Whatever the hell Tom is. And that's about it. If you want to run a campaign in Middle Earth with others having magic then you're already writing your own work so to speak. So if you want psionics in ME, go ahead and add it.

Maybe, maybe not. It all depends on how the GM defines what magic is and who can learn it. There are a number of fantasy worlds where magic is restricted to certain races, bloodlines, special people, etc. ie, cannot be learned by anyone.

Edit: Fixed the typo, smartalecs! :)

Heck, I added psionics to Michigan years ago, myself. Seemed wise; good thing. Now I guess I'm ahead of the trend.
GAH! I was going to say that!! I just didn't feel like being THAT much of a smart:):):)!...fine...fine...

It seems I've blown the cover of the Michigan Mind Conclave.

*stares intently at the screen* Forget! Forrrgettt!

(Notice how there is no way to 'stretch out' the word 'forget' in writing and not make it look stupid? :)

Another of our secrets revealed! He must be eliminated for his use of the forbidden non-stretchy word! ;)
