D&D General I spent how much? How much did you spend in 2024.

I spent $200 buying the 2024 hardcovers and The Shattered Obelisk, and $120 buying the 2024 books in Fantasy Grounds, along with Quests from the Infinite Staircase. I also pay for a room rental at my FLGS for my biweekly Sunday game, so probably just shy of $500 for the year altogether. Given that I ran approximately 110 sessions over the course of the year, it's still a fantastically inexpensive hobby compared to some others (don't even get me started on how expensive it is to play golf).

I did 70 AL session about 10 homebrew. And averaging 1700 a year which is a lot. But introduce 10 new players to the game some which are still showing up. And Created about 4 new dms. AKA they got a Dungeon Master ornament and a small ceremony. It is amazing on what we spend on hobbies. And this year I did have a lot of impulse buys.

I bought (at 50% off) The Making of Original D&D 1970-1977 as a Christmas present for a friend. I also bought the new PHB and DMG. That's about it.

Just D&D? Not much since I moved to running a Warhammer Fantasy campaign in early 2024.

Do you include game conventions?

After last year’s post on this subject I told myself I would keep better track this year, and then promptly didn’t. 🤷🏾‍♂️

But I mostly spent $ on minis and similar accessories. The few books I got were gifts.

I suppose I should answer the OP question.

BricksandMinifigs world record attempt $20 [also got 2 lego minis out of it and a nice eyeball d20]
Dice for my 8 year old (bday & Christmas, total 3 sets and a bag) about $50
Dice for my 10 year old - Dice of Rolling and 1 set about $50*
Minis for the game with my family $20ish from miniaturemarket
Minis for my Baldur's Gate II game $20ish from miniaturemarket
Really nice custom DM screen $100ish from Etsy

Total around $260? It's still a really cheap hobby.
*my mom bought this technically... I just helped.

None of the money spent with WOTC. Not happy with the design direction post-Tasha's or how Beyond has forced 2024 onto everyone's character sheets. Everything's with ancillary small businesses that make the game more fun. A rising tide lifts all boats.
