I think I'm going crazy . . .

So as some of you may know I rarely go out. Today, I went to Wal-Mart (shudder) and the grocery store. By the time we were in the grocery store I felt like I was about to lose control and start screaming. Every ten feet I encountered a moron, the worst of which were the employees.

For example, Wal-Mart has signs posted at the registers proclaiming that all registers are open 10 am to 10 pm Saturdays. As I stood, waiting, an employee finally walked up and asked if I was waiting for something. I told her about the sign and she looked pissed.


Why are there always so many idiots out there? Why can't they just stay home (like I usually do)?

Anyway, back to work.

You're looking at another Walmart non-fan. Ick. I just can't go in there. I'll do any other big box store (Shopko, Target -- ok, not K-mart). And it's not necessarily just the people (though that might be part of it -- employees and customers alike) -- there is something about that store -- the layout? width of aisles? colors? -- that just makes me cringe a cringey cringe.

The only thing that irks me about Walmart are the small isles. Also, when I go to the one in Glendale with my best friend - you'd think it was the only foodmarket/retail store in the city. It doesn't matter what day of the week it is, or if it is a holiday, or morning, afternoon or evening, it is always packed. Thankfully here in Scottsdale, there are plenty of choices for where people wnt to do their shopping, there are K-Mmarts and many specialty stores that have managed to stay afloat. So trips to the local Walmart are not nearly as bad.

I don't even mind going out and WalMart can wear on my nerves! I used to be like Eric and just refuse to even go to them. Then they started building some new ones and their layout was much better. I am convinced as Eric mentioned that the older stores had aisles that were way too narrow. There is just an off feeling in some of their older stores. The newer ones tend to have much wider aisles and I think that is what has made the biggest difference to me.

It could also have something to do with the fact that ours seems very, very grungy (unclean -- or is it just worn and poorly lit?), and I always seem to have to fight a crowd of poorly-behaved children swarming an exhausted mother who looks as if she wished she'd never had kids.

Yeah, I could see that too. One of the older ones had rusted carts, grungy floor tiles and with the narrow aisles and shelves piled high it probably does make the lighting seem dim.

Another thing is it seemed they were always stocking shelves during the day. Leaving pallet jacks in the middle of the aisle during popular shopping times. I never understood why they couldn't handle that on 3rd shift.
