I want my Relic!

WTF? My players aren't allowed to look at the DMG, MIC, or any other book that has a large percentage of DM content, and you want a *relic*? Are you playing at Epic levels? Otherwise, I'd ixnay the elicray if I were your DM.
The MIC uses "relic" differently than you're probably thinking. Relics as far as the MIC is concerned are magic items that have additional powers unlocked when in the hands of clerics of the appropriate faith who sacrifice a spell slot of a certain level, or those followers that have the True Believer feat for the deity.

The two relic pairs of gauntlets only have prices of 4000-5000 gp, so these aren't exactly artifacts we're talking about.

I was perusing the MIC, and I found a pair of Gauntlets. They're PERFECT for my character. The relic power's kinda powerful, but they have prereqs for unlocking the relic power and they just make sense for my character's flavor.

Problem is . . . how does one get one's DM to allow an item to be found without dropping the items name out of character?

Highlight it in his sourcebook?
Subliminal messages?
Bribing?
Any suggestions?

P.S. Chris, if you're reading this . . . well, I guess I'm screwed. :\

Don't try to pull a fast one on your DM. It always ends in tragedy.
