I want to do a generic pirate map.

I love those "generic fantasy map" and "generic space map" where they make a map that has everything on it.

I did a post-apocalyptic map with the same idea.

Now I'm feeling piratey so asking.

What would you want on a generic pirate world map?

Kraken, Ghost Ships and an edge of the world for sure. You need a skull shaped island and a maelstrom as well.

Pirate hideout
Pirate stronghold
A mermaid
Sea serpent
Elaborate compass
Dead Man's reef/sand bank/etc
Bottles of rum
A ninja being completely outclassed by a pirate

A bloodstain, from a previous owner of the map or a name written three times very close to each other.

The lyrics to a sea shanty written in the margin, with multiple crossings-out as the author tried to find the right rhymes.

Arrows pointing to things off the edge of the map: El Dorado, the Fountain of Youth, and so on.
