I want to run a Spycraft game on the IC board

Newbie guide?

I'm keenly interested in getting in on some Spycraft action... BUT is there some newbie guide to this type of gaming? Is it like PBEM? Obviously the medium is the forum - but are there any significant differences? How often are the players expected to post?

Is there still room for a fixer?

I don't know about a newbie guide (Hey, I'm a newbie at this too!) but I will post a ''Spycraft Charter'' before we begin the game. It'll contain info about the format I want the player to post in as well as the method to resolve actions.

Take a look at the In character Forum and you'll see some example of board games. Pay particular attention to the adventures of the Star Wars iconic character. That's pretty much what I have in mind.

In this example they seem to be posting daily, altough these are usually short posts. Shouldn't be too time consuming.

Crimster has said that he wants to make a Fixer and Death's toe has said he would make a soldier. I haven't received any of these PCs yet (*nudge, nudge, wink, wink*). I laready have a Snoop and a Wheelman.

There is no room for two wheelmen on a team. Multiple soldier is the easiest to accept since there are three distinct style of combat in which they can concentrate. A second Snoop would require a very different concept from the first and probably early multiclassing for me to accept it. The first Snoop, Luddite, is very classic; expert at computer espionage and cryptography. A second fixer... well I don't really have a first!

Nobody has spoken for a faceman or a pointman yet.

Tell you what - I'll drop the fixer and I'll make a Face. That is sort of the concept I wanted anyways....!

I had a problem with the Fixer class - in that I couldn't figure out what they were doing with it... I couldn't come up with a genre character that fit the mold. The Face class has many examples to draw from.

Me too?

Hey Game Control,

I just emailed you again - I have been out of town so this is my first post here.

Is there still room for a Soldier or Fixer? I can send a (better) character to you tonight.

Thanks

I haven't received your e-mail and you don't seem to be the first. This is starting to annoy me.

I would ask everyone to take note of the following adress;

vincent.lemire@videotron.ca

This is my household adress and is very stable. Only trouble is that there are two computers and 4 users in said household which is why I got myself an account at Caramail.

Please send any message for me to both adress until further notice. Be sure to write SPYCRAFT at the beginning of every subject title.

As for your questions, Bob:

I have received a fixer PC. I have yet to receive a soldier. No one has spoken for a pointman.

I'll speak up for the Pointman. I'll send it to you sometime tonight or tomorrow morning to your homemail.

Let me just make sure I've got the generation straight:

1st Level
40 point build
Mysterious organization (Foundation), come up with a dayjob that doesn't keep you nailed down.

I have an idea. When I get home, I'll work it up.

Yep.

The dayjob can be genuine or totally bogus.

For example you can be a freelance journalist, but do you write your own articles or let the foundation ghostwrite them? Either choice are fine.

Also remember that the departments of Spycraft represent the organisation where you learned your craft. You no longer work for them.

That first organisation you belonged to does not need to be an intelligence agency. It just needs to justify your department bonus.

Hey, Wow... My game is an example...

If you're looking for some good advice on PBP games, you won't find much, but here's some links to guides on PBEM games... And that's pretty close...

I've been playing PBPs for over two years, now. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
