I was "booed" for even showing the 4e Core books

There were really strong emotions about it around where I live. The LGS both refused to carry it, so you'd have no choice other than ordering from Amazon. (Now one of them has shut its doors for good and the other sells only CCGs - again, I would prefer any RPGs.)
Anyone else find this hilarious? Just me? :)

There are small minded people everywhere in everything *shrug* me I'll play pretty much anything if its with friends, computer games, CCG's MMO's, board games, tabletop RPG's, Live roleplay, Sports whatever I'll at least give it a try and haven't found anything I'd not do again.

4e received a mixed reaction from my gaming group. Some definitely want to switch, while others definitely dont want to switch so we're sticking with 3.5 by default (everyone is happy enough with 3.5 as well). I'll be running 4th Ed with a second group (some newbies, some old friends) every now and then though. Re the "booing"/gaming snobbishness, I have noticed that many WoD players at conventions here in Ireland turn their noses up at D&D as being a "kids/munchkins" game...not all mind, some play either game without a problem.

More sad than hilarious. Really lads and lassies, it is just a game system, I believe the point is to have fun; a social event.

<sigh>

Maybe booing is fun for them? Are you defining now what fun? Is booing badwrongfun now? Who are you to tell me I can't boo about 4E if I want to?

:p
I kid.

My buddies and I were together buying the core 4e books at our FLGS when they were released. We all take good care of ourselves, hit the gym, and are generally not 'gamer' in appearance or level of fitness.

We're hanging at the store flipping through the books and discussing material when a gigantic fatass comes over and proclaims that 4e is dumbed down. We all took one look at his bloated butt and started laughing. That's my 4e story.

:-SWow. Great story. Nothing like this epic example of maturity to show just how gosh darn smart you are.

Yey, Gaelcon FTW!!!

I dont interact with any fellow Irish RPGers so I dont know abotu the snobbery, but my group and myself keep our DND playing on the QT.

Although the owner of Subcity (an old mate) says 4e is pretty popular and a lot of the old lapsed gamers are coming back to DND.

My only complaint is: I want to see this on YouTube, right now.

Arrrr, -- N

or Rifts guys about D&D and they'll roll their eyes about "level based systems", and so on.

Am I the only one that sees the irony in that statement? :)

I've lost gaming contact with exactly one of my gaming buds due to 4e. Which is sad, but to each his own, I suppose.
