"I guess not...but I think that means yes," she smiles and nods to herself.

"If you'll follow me? We can get this paperwork over with quickly," Layna offers.

As they walk with Layna, "Is there anyone who could look at a few objects I found? I'd be supprised if at least one of them wasn't magical, but that realy isn't my thing."

"Objects you found, eh? You'd better not tell me if you 'just found them recently' in the ruins, but if you did, official Academy policy is that it all belongs to the Academy. You could easily get objects identified, but I'd suggest against it if my suspicion is right and you don't want them confiscated. You're lucky you didn't ask Garrick, or he'd have had them confiscated for sure."

"You find all kinds of things on such long journies. Sometimes you can't always remember where."

"I must say, you seem much more pleasant to talk to that your other companion. You mentioned studying later, are you a student?"

"Oh, of course. We can't remember everything, can we? But those who know these things have an uncanny tendency to figure out where things came from," Layna winks.

"Garrick means well, but he's very opinionated," she sighs, "Yes, in a sense. I've graduated with a basic level degree in Illusion magic, but I've chosen to continue in my studies of advanced topics and help tutor some of the lower level students rather than scatter off like all those adventuring wizards and try to blast orcs in the head with fireballs."

"Can't blame who, Garrick? As for little Laynie, if she can put her magic where her mouth is, she may very well be a prodigy, but Garrick's right that she would need someone to look after her. Even if somehow she was able to take care of herself, it is unlikely enough that it would be wrong to endanger her by leaving her alone to test it. I'm not sure why you can't continue to raise her and wait until she gets a bit older, but if you wanted to sneak through the red tape, you'd have to do something tricky. Of course, I would never suggest a way to get around the rules, but I will say that while the school doesn't take children that young, there are older students who have children."

"Well, as much as I love the kid, I'm not the one to raise a magical genieus, and she wasn't too thrilled about learning with the freefolk, so I'm doing what I can to get her setup with someone to care for and teach her, probably in a way I realy can't."

"As for kids, I was pretty sure there had to be someone here with some. I guess finding someone willing to take her in though is just wishful thinking though.
