IA: A Teacher for Laynie

[Rystil Arden]

"It probably is wishful thinking, unfortunately. However, I was thinking of something a bit more creative. Never mind, though. Is there anything you'd like to ask me about the Academy that you didn't want to ask Garrick?"

 

[Bront]

"No, please, share what you were thinking. You know far more about the school than I, and I'd be willing to bet you're probably familiar with bending a rule or two yourself. Not that you'd ever admit to it," he says with a wink and a smile.

 

[Rystil Arden]

"But good sir, surely you jest?" Layna smiles slightly, "A respectable and rule-abiding pretty little Highborne girl like me?"

*Her eyes open wide, a pool of bright blue, as her face shifts to a silent plea of innocence, but then she winks and laughs.*

"I'll admit that I may have bent a few rules in my youth--I even helped Elektra Planter curse Rowan Aranah in my fourth year, but now that I'm an assistant teacher, I've put all that behind me, of course. Why, would an Academy faculty member suggest that the true student needn't be the same as the one who applies? But of course not--don't you agree, Vanitri? That's a mouthful. I find three syllable names like Elayna and Vanitri too long. Do you have a shorter nickname? Vani, perhaps?"

 

[Bront]

"Some people call me Van, and you're welcome to as well."

"And of course not. Even if they were, if I were to apply, but Laynie were to show in my stead, I would think someone might notice."

 

[Rystil Arden]

"Ah, but some instructors allow the parents among our students to bring their children to class with them if the children don't interrupt the lesson. Not that I'm suggesting that, Van."

 

[Bront]

"I see...", Vanitri says while pondering that.

OOC: I'd kind of have to retire Vanitri a bit if I did that wouldn't I? I take it giving him a few years in class would kind of cause problems, and he'd have trouble paying anyway

(OOC: Thanks to LEW fuzzy time, you actually wouldn't have to retire your character. Yay LEW fuzzy time! The money could be an issue, however, at least without some form of scholarship)

 

[Bront]

"Lead on. Perhaps my friend here should apply as well."

OOC: Yeah, I guess technicaly it's not because of that, and he wouldn't need to be there for too long, just a few years till she can apply, though that's a little longer than he had thought. Technicaly we can have Merrean stay, but we'll see.

 

[Rystil Arden]

"Perhaps, although I must admit that a human is more likely to receive a scholarship than a Katara. We're almost there don't worry--see just down the hall. We'll need to finish talking about this before we head in, though. There's a dean that works in the office. Let me know when you're ready."

(OOC: Yup, that can work too We'll see how it goes )

"Well, I'm certaintly not likely to get a scholarship myself, unless there's one for random freefolk. I'm supprised the Katara won't get one for being an exotic species. What other scholarships are out there?"
