*Elektra nods and glances to Laynie.*

"You look tired, little one. Have you been walking around a lot today? The Academy is a big place you know, and I bet that's tough on your little legs."

"I'm a little bit tired, but at least we got to stop and rest in that room."

"Well how would you like a rest, little one? And I can put you up high so you can see better. Would you like that?"

*Elektra pulls a small vial from her robe and swirl it a a tiny circle in the air as she chants, a blue glow suffusing the circle. She gently pours a single drop of silvery liquid from the vial, and it shimmers as it spreads to cover the circle, forming a small silvery disk that floats in the air just behind Elektra, three feet off the ground.*

"Here, let me pick you up," Elektra lifts Laynie gently up and sets her on the floating disk, "How do you like that? You can fly now, little one!"

"Wheeeee!" Laynie waves her hands in the air as she floats on the disk.

"You just hang on there and enjoy the view Laynie," Vanitri says with a smile as he follows the woman.

"Okay then--the library is close to the Mordrue tower, and the laboratories for the study of magical artifacts are in the Omega complex. Why don't I take you out back through the garden and then back in to the library? Unless you'd rather see the magical artifact research first?"

*Elektra leads Vanitri and Mearran through the extensive gardens behind the main complex, the disk holding Laynie floating gently behind, maintaining a steady distance.*

*After enjoying the sun and the flowers, they move back inside, and Elektra leads them through the halls, pointing out offices and rooms of various sorts, until they reach the library, a colossal chamber filled with rows upon rows of books.*

"And here's the library. We have books on every subject imaginable, but most of them are about magic of all sorts. We have books here dating to the height of the Medibarian Empire and beyond."

"Wow! Neat!" Laynie exclaims, perking up at all the books around her.

"I see that. Most kids her age aren't really reading at all, so she must be quite advanced for my age. I know how it feels--people used to tease me about being a bookworm too, especially back when I was a first-year. If the books here weren't too advanced, I'd check one out for you to read, little Laynie..."

"Laynie...So is this your daughter, Vanitri? She has the name and physical features of a Highborne, but you don't.

Vanitri chuckles, "You'd be supprised what she can read. You should let her try one."

"And she is in my care at the moment, but she is not. She is an orphan, much like myself, though at least she had the pleasure of knowing her parents."
