IA: A Teacher for Laynie

Vanitri wraps his arms around Elektra and gives her a long tender kiss. He smiles as he finishes and looks into her eyes.

*Elektra gazes back, although she casts a sidelong glance towards the other two people walking down the hall. The red-haired boy has turned away from them to rest his head against his companion's bosom, pointedly ignoring Elektra and Vanitri. The tension is palpable, No one says a word until the silence is broken by the blonde-haired girl, as she greets Elektra sweetly:*

"Hi Elektra! Who's your new friend?"

*Elektra spares a glare at the red-haired boy before turning her gaze to the one who spoke.*

"Well hello there Kitty. I didn't see you there. What a pleasant surprise."

"Anyways, this is Vanitri. Isn't he handsome. Just look at his strong muscular chest,"
she rubs her hand over Vanitri's chest demonstrably.

*The red-haired boy shifts uncomfortably against Kitty's chest.*

"Come on, darling. We don't want to be late, do we?"

"Of course not sweetie. See you later Elektra," they head around the corner, and Vanitri can barely make out Kitty as she continues, "Late for what?"

*Elektra continues to glare for a few moments after they are gone, then her expression softens and she turns back.*

"Thanks. Shall we keep going?"

"Just that jackass Alden Ferrous. I haven't cursed him yet, partly because Truman is into his sister, but some time I'll think of a good one. Until then, I thought I'd show him there are other men at this school and I can get them if I want. I was going to ask someone else, but you were around."

"And speaking of Truman, there's his room over there. Alden is his roommate, so maybe Truman was kicking them out for carousing too much."

*She knocks on the door.*

"Truman, can I come in?"

"Sure, come right in Lex."

*Elektra opens the door and motions everyone inside.*

"Well, if you ever need help again, don't be afraid to ask me," Vanitri says with a smile before the arive.

Vanitri steps in.

*A dark-haired lad sits at the table reading a book. His face has a bit of a grim set, but he's still fairly handsome, except perhaps for the dark eyepatch over his left eye, covered with a mystic rune.*

"Truman, these are some prospective students visiting the school. Guys, this is Truman."

"I came to talk--You wanted to see me, right?"

"Yes, but I'm not sure this is the right company in which to talk about it, Lex."

"Oh, really?"

"Yes. I wish I could have brought Alden too..."

"I told you Truman, I'm not talking to him. It's him or me."

"And I hate it when I have to pick sides here...can't we just be friends again? Anyway, much as Alden is my best friend, if I'm to be forced to choose one for this, I pick you Lex. I need your brainpower Lex."

"You want me to send them away? Vanitri is going to be a student here too, you know. Besides, we can't be a trio unless we meet with thr..."

"Well we could always get Ald..."

"Don't say it! Anyways, if this isn't the kind of topic for little girls, we can have Mearran take Laynie to play in the Imaginarium."

"Actually, I can't. The disk is following you."

"She'll have to get down then," Elektra picks up Laynie gently and gives her a hug, as she sets the still-reading little girl on the ground, "Vanitri, would you like to stay with us while we talk or go with them?"

"Yep, that's a good idea. Nothing can beat some good old-fashioned exercise. It helps you keep looking your best, unless you want to get all fat like Kitty."

*Truman rolls his eye.*

"I saw that," Elektra sticks out her tongue at him.

*Mearran takes Laynie off and Truman shakes his head.*

"I don't see why you insist on..."

"Vanitri, you can do comic relief, right?"

"See, who needs Alden? so what did you find out?"

"I haven't been able to find Tammy for a few hours--"

"That isn't so unusual. She's probably off in the library."

"That's what I thought too, but when I checked there, she wasn't there. Also, the Prophecies were in disarray, and there was one page pinned to the wall by magical force."

"Well that's weird. What did it say?"

"It wasn't one with which I am familiar. In fact, I think it was a new page that just looked like the others...It said 'Let the detritus tremble, for the Heir has returned.'

"So aren't you going to tell someone about it?"

"Nah, it's probably just a prank and I didn't want to get everyone riled up. That's why I was hoping to, y'know, limit the number of people who heard. Besides, this is the perfect opportunity to take matters into our own hands like usual."

"Ahh, Truman...always so reckless. Sometimes I think you won't give up until you've lost both eyes."

"So you won't help me check this out?"

"Are you kidding? I wouldn't miss it!"

"What about him though?"

"Well it's a shot in the dark, but maybe the you-know-what part of the entrance exam might give us a clue? Probably not though, but we have a chance now, right?"

"Ah, that's true. You're a tricky little minx Elektra."

"Now now, keep it civil."

"Anyway, we'll deal with this later. I'm going to head back to giving this tour, and then I have to study. You two should talk later. Truman, did you know that Vanitri is an orphan too? Little Laynie also actually?"

"Oh really? I took her for his daughter, which would have made her half-Highborne like me. Is she pure then?"

"Probably. But she's very sweet, and she's a great reader. Anyways, catch up with you later!"

*Elektra leads Vanitri out and back to the Imaginarium to find Mearran and Laynie.*

"Your partner in crime?" Vanitri asks with a chuckle. "Not that you're anything but the perfect little angel of course."

"Crime? Nah. We may be breaking the rules, but it's always for the good of the school. Besides, as you said, I'm a perfect little angel who studies hard for all her classes," she smiles sweetly, "Even Curses and Malefices Throughout the Ages.
