D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Princes of Elemental Evil

Maighan stares at the worm's maw with a mix of wonder and trepidation, and a touch of sorrow. As dangerous as this creature had been, it was gone now. Such a strange and incredible thing...now just a fixture in the floor.

But duty called. There were many more wonders of nature that might meet a similar or worse fate if they did not attend to it.

She turned away from the remains of the creature.

"I'll survive for now. Everyone ready to leave?"

(OOC - Also ready to wrap this up for now...we could use some re-equipping and so on before venturing down farther)

OOC: I'm fine with that if that's the objective. The only details you guys have left to explore is areas 9 and 8 that you only scouted by familiar and the tunnel leading north which leads for quite a while towards another segment of the dungeon. Right now you have at least four different directions you can go in the dungeon crawl. North through the passage. East through the passage. Down through the air temple. Down through the worm's mouth.

Carradoc stares at the gaping skeletal mouth. He stands at the mouth of the room [bb29], and shakes his head.

"I gotta know...", he explains to his colleagues as he fires a chilling beam at the maw.

To hit: [roll0]. Damage [roll1] necrotic.

He is ready to run.

Carradoc shrugs. "Just give me a sec." He is not looking forward to the journey back, and may be trying to delay beginning it.

He enters the room, looking to see if there is anything worth his notice. (passive investigation 15).

[[OOC: if this is a bust, I'm content to go back. Carradoc will conjure a Phantom steed (ritual) to make the journey more comfortable.]]

Dent eyed Carradoc with newfound respect. This was the bravest he'd seen his companion since meeting him. Maybe the half-elf transmuter'd always been brave and Dent hadn't noticed. Either way, Dent stood his ground in the mouth of the hall and kept watch while his colleague darted into the room containing the skeletal worm. When at last Carradoc had his fill of the room and retreated to rejoin the others, Dent smirked, guessing Carradoc's intent. "Nothing worth taking? Shame."

OOC: I'd like to explore north through the passage or east through the passage, but not down.

To the north, after some distance, you see:

The passage emerges into an oddly shaped room. A loose pile of stone forms a barricade across the route, angled to defend intrusion from the south.

Six hobgoblins seem to be mulling around.

To the east:

A crudely built iron gate that looks like it is a new addition to this ancient dungeon blocks the passage. A heavy chain and a padlock secure the gate.
