D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Princes of Elemental Evil

Tolan shrugs at Damien.

"I have no objection to Dent being the other reaver. But I had assumed he would want to keep all that steel wrapped around himself for protection. You know, in case things go ... well in case things go as they usually have. But if I am not to be a warrior, what part would you have me play in this little pantomime?"

They do not know Dent, so he could simply be a mercenary that happened to be tracking "silvers" to collect the 100gp bounty, and he helped Soalar on the other side of the river. Our story could be that we told Shoalar that we were expecting other companions on this side of the river, hence the reason why Shoalar stayed an extra day, to ambush them. Dent was tracking these two additional companions, and joined the fight. Both he and the illusory Shoalar want to meet with Jolly to collect the bounty for 6 silvers. If you need prisoners, those of us that cannot hide with illusions can be them. After a moment, Thaliss adds Here is the layout of the keep as I remember it. Study it well Thaliss proceeds to conjure an illusory top view image of the keep, as per the map.

"I would guess there is some kind of pass-phrase or sign to get them to lower the rope. Tom's going to have to give that to us or all of our plans are sunk." Damien said. "Beyond that, we dock at the north or west quays. Where's Jolly stay... somewhere in that northwest building? Just take the paths and get as close as we can to him."

Tolan scowls slightly at Damien's suggestion.

"Prisoner? It ill suits me to be separated from a weapon when storming a keep full of armed, hostile men."

He stumps around for a moment, trying to come up with a better idea, but it amounts to nothing.

"Well, if we're doing this, lets be about it."

He smears blood from his existing wounds in wider patches and works some up into his hair, doing his best to look more thoroughly abused.

"Perhaps if this lot had been better at their job, it wouldn't be such a stretch for me to look defeated."

OOC: I guess Tolan's shield, sword, bow etc. have to be sacrificed in the name of the disguise. But he'll try and hold onto a dagger, wrapped up in his bindings or whatever.

Damien raised his hand in pause. "Hold a second, Tolan, Thaliss makes a good point. Thaliss could certainly be the sole survivor. After all, he has some connection to the Keep. Perhaps Shoalar would have thought to bring him back for questioning. As a bonus, Thaliss doesn't need weapons to be effective. Dent and Carrodoc could simply be new mercenaries interested in converting. No one from the Keep knows them."

Nodding his head and rubbing his chin, he continued, "Yes, I think that is very doable."

Dent put on his best glower. He tucked his tag inside the linen undertunic he wore to protect his skin from chaffing in the armor, then brandished his longsword. He looked at his blade and then at the dead priest. "It's not bloody enough." Dent trod over to the priest and used his sword to hack off the priest's left leg.

It was a good minute's work, but the end result was a longsword covered in gore. "Ready." Dent offered a crooked-tooth smile.

Dent approached Tolan. "If you're playing prisoner, I'll hold that minature armory of yours you carry around. When we close on our target, my first move will be to hand you your weapon." For all his sourness, the knight seemed in earnest.

Damien sighed, "Just play as the Reaver. When the plan falls apart... and they all do, it would be nice if everyone were combat ready from the get go. It also makes sense that the only one that would be left alive would be Thaliss since he apparently has history here."

OOC: Damien will help shore up Tolan's disguise. I'm not sure if there'a an appropriate roll or not. As such, here's a straight D20. I have proficiency in Disguise Kits and Deception

OOC: It sounds like you have most of a plan. If you want to arrive late, that's enough time for a long rest beforehand. I am going to jump ahead to the initial arrival at the keep. I'm also not 100% on what you did to Tom.

The keep's eastern wall is built into the river, forming a long pier that encloses a boat basin. A heavy chain that emerges from the tower to the south stretches across the entrance. In the darkness of the night, there appears to be very little activity going on at the keep. The place seems eerily silent. A single torch on each side of the chain provides the only illumination.

A voice calls out from the darkness, completely unseen to anyone in the party. "Reash! REEEAAASH!" Some sentry must have seen your approach. The name spoken might sound familiar from Tom's descriptions.

Through the dim light it is difficult to see, but it seems someone calls out to you from the east-facing arrow slit of the southern tower. "Who ye be and what ye want at this hour? Show me your faces, nobody can hardly see in this darkness."
