D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Princes of Elemental Evil

OOC: I'm not positive. I'm thinking that frostbite doesn't technically affect it?

OOC: Of course I'll respect and adhere to your call, but in this case, I really don't see why unarmed weapon attacks would be different from weapon attacks given the spell's description: you cause numbing frost to form on one creature that you can see within range...
Bottom line: target gets cold, and had trouble to hit with 1 attack for a short while. I don't see why unarmed attacks would be a special case...Unarmed weapons are even part of the weapon's table page 149 of the phb... Granted that monks and those with the tavern brawler feat get to inflict a bit more damage, but the mechanics are the same. I respectfully request that you take these arguments into consideration.

Well regarding the table in the player's handbook, that's what was specifically errata'd out.

They are not "unarmed weapon attacks" anymore. I also think it's odd. I'm attempting to follow the rules as they've been stated including that errata. It is one of the more confusing ones though.

Carradoc's chill touch also doesn't connect.

Shayuri tries to hold on.

Helenrae lands one hit against Dent for 5 points of damage. Dent resists her stunning fist.

The remaining monk tries for Damien. He misses both attacks.

OOC: The problem is the errata were not written to account for the supplementary materials (this is a problem that will continue). The errata'd sentence introduces a new type of (non-weapon) melee attack that was (possibly) not meant to be excluded by the author of the (expansion) cantrip.

OOC: Ok, fair enough and rules are rules... If ok, I'll likely also change this cantrip to another one (like vicious mockery) since hex doesn't work with it and also unarmed attacks... I still need to pick vicious mockery's replacement...

Changing tactics, Thaliss goes inside the room, silently gestures his staff and disappears behind a circular wall that matches the background but has arrow slits.

OOC: Move to AL23
Action: cast minor illusion as described above. Thaliss should have line of sight to the Abess because of the sleeping monks (setting things up for the next round).

OOC: Isn't there one other monk that needs to attack? WRT the frostbite spell, RAW it doesn't work, but it was written before the errata was released. With that said, it's one of the most powerful cantrips across all the books so limiting it to not affect unarmed attacks or natural attacks isn't unreasonable, IMO

Damien stabbed at his new opponent, taunting him with a bad pun. "I think I've found the fault in this facet of your defense."

STOP IT! I've changed my mind, no puns, even from you!!!

[sblock=Game Mechanics]
OOC: Action: Attack - [roll0], Damage - [roll1]
Bonus Action: Attack - [roll2], Damage [roll3]

HP: 40/39 (5 THPs)
AC: 16
Notes:
Armor of Agathys: Deal 10 cold damage against melee attackers while THPs exist

I missed a monk. 2 damage after resistance to Tolan.

Thaliss moves into the room.

Damien lands both of his attacks.

Tolan's blade lashes out to one side, hoping to sweep away the chaff before they can deal with the Abbess as a group.

Dent swore a Vow of Enmity at the abbess. "Pedicabo ego vos et subjecerit vobis super altare, meretrix." He dropped down beside Aridha and attempted to stabilize her.

[sblock=OOC]Move: Stay in place, but turn and crouch down.

Action: Administer first aid to Aridha. No healing left at all--burned through all Dent's Lay on Hands and his spell slots previously. Here's a Medicine DC 10 check to attempt to stabilize Aridha. [roll0]

Bonus Action: Vow of Enmity (abbess): 1 bonus action. You can utter a vow of enmity against a creature you can see within 10' of you, using your Channel Divinity. You gain advantage on attack rolls against the creature for 1 minute or until it drops to 0 hit points or falls unconscious.

Reaction: Fighting Style (Protection): Aridha.
