D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Princes of Elemental Evil

Maighan approaches the mounts and pauses, letting them get wind of her and get used to her presence. It's a shame she hasn't got food for them...and more shame still she hasn't prepared a spell to communicate with them directly.

Failing that, she looks around to see if there are stablehands or grooms present.

(OOC - Oops! lol! Curse you spell prep!)

When Thurl mentions the wealthy of Waterdeep, Thaliss inquires nonchalantly seemingly to do simple conversation "Speaking of the wealthy of Waterdeep, would you happen to have seen a charming half moon-elf that carries around a bone flute? Apparently, rumors in Red Larch have it that he ran away with a rich merchant's daughter, and the merchant wants to know if the daughter is ok."

Thaliss continues to converse with Thirl for a little while, and promises that he will have a discussion with Maighan. He bows out and returns to where the other were when he left.

OOC: All in all, I figure the conversation with Thurl lasted about 20 minutes.

Thurl seems to know something, "A bone flute you say? The Windwyrds are who you are looking for then... They are... performers with absolutely no talent. They have distinctive flutes, and perform occasionally in some of the towns and cities around the valley."

Thurl says he intends to retire to his chambers, though he does not immediately follow you down. When you arrive in the dining hall, your companions are missing.

A little disappointed, Maighan starts to leave, then pauses. She wasn't completely sure how it worked with knights and so on, but it seemed a little odd to her that no one was around at all. Animals kept out of their natural environments needed a lot of care, and there were enough here that surely they'd be keeping them on some kind of rotation...

She started going from stall to stall, checking on each animal and assessing its state of care, and the condition of its enclosure.

Well one of the animals is injured from a manticore's sting, and has been bandaged. The other animals vary between perfect health and care, and some more worn and on edge. It seems to tie in relatively fittingly with their respective riders. The vultures seem to have it worse than the hippogriffs that seem to have it worse than Thurl's griffon.

Thaliss will conjure his owl familiar to fly around the tower on the different levels to see if it can locate his companions. He will open his eyes every 20 seconds to ensure that no one is creeping up on him and to cast guidance to assist the owl to hear and spot them.

If he does locate them, he will join them.

OOC: Owl has darkvision 120 ft., passive Perception 13 and has advantage on Wisdom (Perception)
checks that rely on sight.

Meanwhile, Carradoc has summoned his familiar, to fly around the stables, looking in particular at the approach and the ground below the cliffs. Is this being maintained? Is there an obvious point of attack on the stables? They seem vulnerable, he feels.

Thaliss familiar can find the other familiar flying around the stables quickly enough. A lone sentry seems to be ascending the tower from the ground level at this moment with a small hooded candle.

Carradoc's familiar can only see the usual distance in the fog, not quite being able to see the base of the valley from the height of the stables. The stables themselves each have a padlocked double door facing outwards and inwards in the tower in a 12 pointed shape. The doors themselves are reinforced steel and locked from the inside, so lock picking from outside of the tower would be impossible and the amount of strength needed to get through these lower doors is fairly difficult to muster for climbers, though probably not impossible. The doors have multiple latches, taking two actions to open. The other windows on the various levels are barred and have shutters.

A candle? Thaliss thinks to himself; this may be worth taking a look. I don't know what that sentry is hoping to see with a hooded candle; it's just bright enough to see where one is going.

OOC: Thaliss directs his familiar to follow the sentry from a distance.
