D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Storm King's Thunder: Waterdeep

Bellalalalalinda stands up on the bench, indignant at the person at the Kiss and Bell. "Why did't they want us at the other place? Why would they send us here? I want to go back..."

The small gnome then goes on to describe what she'd like to do to the bumbling hotel server. It's clear her heart isn't in it, and it would be easy to talk her down, but her desire is to go back to the Wink and Kiss. She will however listen to her companions. She gives another silver piece to the driver.

The Pearl-Handled Pipe is an excellent inn. The owner and keeper, Elladuth Myristar, loves good furniture and cozy decor, and she spends her time making or acquiring more. Caravans carrying fine carvings, tapestries, and furniture stop here to sell Elladuth all she has room for. She can't say no to a nice-looking chair or bed, so she has an attic filled with furniture. Elladuth is always adding new rooms to the inn so she can set up the furniture. At last count, the Pipe can sleep 600 in comfort and privacy. This is the best place to stay in Yartar, and one of the best in the North.

It does cost a fancy two silver pieces a night, however.

OOC: Let me know anything you want to investigate.

"Ah, a much more reputable establishment!" Gul seems much relieved, admiring the furniture after handing his horse to the stableboy. After giving a downpayment to reserve a room for the night, he heads back to the Wink and Kiss on foot, with any of his companions that seem interested, and makes discrete enquiries for Nareen..

After a few moments of the staff acting like they know nothing about what you're talking about, another server comes out to lead you to a private room.

A server leads you to a private room in the back of the Wink and Kiss. Inside is a dark-haired human female with icy blue eyes, dressed in traveler's garb. She is seated behind a large wooden table with empty chairs across from her. Two big human mercenaries in armor lean against the walls close by. She studies you for a moment, and smiles.

"The bidding starts at a fifteen hundred gold pieces," she says. "What's your offer?"

Guided by Gul, Bellalalalinda arrives at the Pipe, and by then it seems she has forgotten about the vengeance she had sworn upon the desk clerk. They check in, and then return to the Wink and Kiss.

Whistler had been following along the rooftops, maintaining his distance but still close by. As they return to the Wink and Kiss, however, he droops to the street, and picks Bellalalalalinda up and places her on his shoulders. They enter, and the unusual pair follow Gul into the back room.

The woman looks around nervously at the gathering crowd and great ape.

"Well? I thought we had business to discuss?"

Her guards get a little shifty.

"We need to know a little more, about the orb and about who we are dealing with, before we put in an offer.. I'm sure you understand," Gul smiles disarmingly.

"Perhaps you should inquire elsewhere then. There are already offers on the table. I'm not sure what it does myself, all I know is it seems like everyone wants it."

OOC: I'm thinking of casting suggestion, unless any of the other players wants to take the lead.

Can I make a stealth check to try and be less obvious about it? Are the guards paying attention to the conversation or looking out of the doors and windows?

The guards are being observant of you all specifically. I'd allow you to attempt deception, but they may have advantage on the roll as that would be something they are specifically on the lookout for.
