The Holly Hammer
Havoc, being a soldier at some point in life, half-remembers the signals. But he disagrees with one aspect of it. While he waits for Stratus, he hefts one of the zombie bodies, the one most blocking the door and carries it inside. The others, just making closing difficult he rearranges or pushes away just enough that the doors can be opened and closed.

He tries to understands cuts and crushes on the zombies, but he is no healer and these are not normal bleeding bodies. Who knows what wounds are made by bumping into things, falling while dying or after zombification.

At least, they don't resist being moved.

neurotic: D20 + 1#havocmedicine → 6(5 + 1)#Havoc medicine Ugh! Havoc has bad dicebot week.

OOC: Medicine roll 6
Havoc lowers the amount of noise from movement by physically lifting the bodies instead of dragging them until he clears the entrance. If there is only a limb or the body can easily be rolled over the treshold, he does so, but if not, he lifts them in the air for quieter transport. Any body he lifts goes inside where accidental bump won't be heard so much on the street.

"Let's grab some weapons and armor immediately, there was a request for leather armor, some small weapons, I'd like less noisy armor, but it will take good minutes to change even assuming they have something dwarf-sized. And I want to check that hammer."
OOC: "Can't touch this!" comes a voice from somewhere as he reaches for the hammer. "It's Hammertime!" :p

neurotic: 2D20L1 + 2#havoc stealth → 19 (low 1 of 18; 17 = 17 + 2)#Havoc stealth 19

With that, he checks weapons on the way to the hammer for quality, but doesn't waste too much time unless it is closed in something to show it is more valuable than things on the shelves.

The Holy Hammer

Stratus & Havoc

Havoc bends down to look at the wounds on some of the zombies but, when he sees Stratus moving others away from the door, he goes over to help. As he's moving the bodies, he realizes that it looks like some of these were killed by other zombies....but then....killed again?1

It only takes a few moments to move them from the door and close the door. There's a turnkey lock if you want to lock it. You hear more footsteps beyond the next room - and a door handle rattling.

You move into the next room to have a closer look at the hammer and, as you move in, you see a zombie standing there at the bottom of a staircase that leads up to another floor. Above, a balcony overlooks this room. It turns, "huh?" and attacks but you knew it was there and get to dispatch it.

Caer Droea
Meanwhile, upstairs, heavy bootsteps get closer and closer. First Caer hears something bang on the door. Then the latch rattles and, finally, the latch lifts and someone enters the room. He's a large human with red hair, standing well over six feet in half plate armour. If you hadn't met Stratus, you'd think this human quite imposing. The first thing you notice is that he's completely covered in blood and gore. It's hard to tell if any of it is his blood or others. There is, literally, clumps of flesh hanging from his armour and the armour itself looks battered. On one hand he wears a massive gauntlet and in the other hand, he carries a long sword. He grunts as he looks around the room and you feel very exposed in your hiding spot. You second guess your decision to stay in this room but his eyes pass over where you are crouched without any reaction. He sways in his spot for a moment then moves to the table, with his back to you, staring at the place settings. You are having a hard time knowing if he's alive or if he's a zombie. 2 The door leading outside is still open. Then you hear the sounds of combat. The person at the table grunts, "Huh?" He turns and starts to move towards the door.3

1. @Neurotic It's a 5 minute job to Investigate the bodies.

2. So, Snarf, I(the guy) rolled a 3 for my(his) perception check. He totally doesn't see you! But you may want to roll insight. Because it's hard to tell what he is. DC 13

3. My apologies, Snarf if I'm moving things too fast. If there's anything you want to do BEFORE the guy sits or gets up or is about to leave, go ahead and let me know. It's just that everything his happening simultaneously.

Caer sees the figure stomp into the room and feels a tinge of disgust; not from the viscera and guts that seem to cover it in its entirety, but from the glints of metal that cover it. He attempts to ascertain the nature of this gore-embellished shambling figure, wondering if it has been shadow-touched, or is merely encased in the bodies of corpses.

It seems to be moving with purpose, coming into this room, and then surveying it. Perhaps there is a spark of nature left.

Caer shakes off the cowl from his head, and while maintaining hold on the Blackstaff and boneshield, waves the Blackstaff to get the attention of the bloody interloper, while whispering in clear common.

If you are still alive, I am a friend from the The Pudgy Pig.

Rolling insight, per post above, but Caer is either going to get an ally or a fight.

Seeing that there is danger nearby, Benny gets closer to Deidre and Anson, and gets ready to fight.

Caer gets a good look at the man as he moves to leave, and you realize the little bits of meat and gore hanging from the man's armour is actually parts of his own throat. It looks like there were more zombies than he could handle. Caer stands from his hiding spot, announcing his presence and the large human - you remember his name was Carson - turns. He looks confused for a moment. Then he screams and charges. It looks like he's no ally to the Pudgy Pig.

Downstairs, the Zombie attacks Havoc.

The three adventurers ready to strike the zombie. Deidre, being in front runs in to strike - finally able to inflict divine retribution upon the undead abominations. As she circles around to give room for the others, she notes someone else is standing behind the privacy screen. Another zombie. This one is wearing a fancy dress. It's standing on a rug that's been thrown to the side, revealing the floor. A bookshelf is tipped over where the rug used to be. Everyone else piles in.

I'm not sure where people want to go, but you get to go first. You may adjust as you see fit.
Deidre has full cover from the zombie or partial cover if it moves towards her.

Anson saw that there were two zombies, and figured that Dierdre could use some help. He drew his sword and lunged into the room, thrusting it into the closest zombie's groin, hoping to disable its ability to shuffle.

OOC: Anson hit AC 16 for 12 piercing & vex (he has advantage on his next attack vs that zombie). I don't think that he can draw his dagger until next round, though, otherwise he'd use that too.

Stratus had just finished blocking the door with the body of a zombie, in case more came from the street when Havok assumed a fighting stance. Stratus strode across the floor to join the dwarf, and held his sword in both hands. He passed it over the dwarf's head in a large arc and hacked into the zombie's shoulder, destroying its use of that arm.

OOC: Stratus hit AC 15 for 10 slashing & the zombie has disadvantage on its next attack. BTW, I had rolled but not posted Stratus' stealth (he made a 10). A small quibble: I believe I posted my intent to barricade the door with bodies, but if you think we didn't have time, that's fine.

OOC: @FitzTheRuke you caught the zombies by surprise. if you wanted a second weapon out, you'd have done it before you attacked. Go ahead and roll your second attack, if it gives you one.

I didn't see that you wanted to barricade the door with bodies...that works fine!!! You have to move them somewhere, after all

As the Zombie turned from Dierdre, distracted by Anson's sword, the guide thrust his dagger into its chest. It may have been a killing blow on a regular person, but the zombie seemed to barely feel it.

OOC: Yes, off-hand dagger with Nick. Only did the whopping 2 damage, though! (Hit AC 13).
