(IC) Dog Days of Doom!

"We were in the burial columns when some kind of undead storm happened. I'm guessing just when you idiots disrupted the wards? Most people died and immediately got up as zombies. And more powerful people, such as the priest...yeah, they got up dangerous."
Havoc shrugs
"You asked why we? Because we were the only one remaining and able. When the ship is sinking, you don't ask if the person next to you is a captain or a slave, if we don't pitch in, we go down. Whatever that book is, I hope it is worth a whole town - at the very least - worth of lives. And unleashing who knows how many powerful undead."

“You’re blaming us for what’s happened? She sounds incredulous,

She responds, her voice dripping with condescension,

"Oh, I'm sure your heroic deeds will be sung by every bard in the lands. I don't know much about the kind of person you are but it's obvious your perspective in the matter is much, much smaller than your sense of self-worth."

Her disembodied voice gets very serious,

"Let me ask you, in all seriousness: this 'undead storm' - did the comet change colours or send out a pulse of energy before it happened?"

Havoc is getting irritable, but he tries to keep the conversation going
"I'm not blaming you, I'm noting you either had something to do with this or you're very unlucky to get into very well guarded space just as the major catastrophe happened. And I'm not telling you anything. You tried to kill us instead of helping! And even with the undead monster out, you didn't do anything. Thus, guilty!"

Havoc takes a breath
"As for who will sing about what, why should I care? I'll be back on the ship soon. Maybe even captain one if there are enough captains dead. What use is a song to someone like me? On the other hand, Cailyassa, what could such a reputation mean to you?"

OOC: Maybe we pause here to let someone more diplomatic interject?

The quote below was me finding out that we heard her name.

Gromlik Three-Teeth flinches as psychic daggers penetrate through his armour. The first time someone has managed to hurt the warrior. His face is grim with determination.

"Cailyassa, do something already!"

“I TRIED TO KILL YOU!!!?? MY COMRAD LIES DEAD ON THE FLOOR! ATTACKED BY HIM!!!” She points at Anson “UNPROVOKED WHILE WE WERE TALKING!!! YOU ARE AN ARROGANT LIAR! WE WERE DEFENDING OURSELVES FROM YOUR BLOODLUST!!”

OOC: yeah, maybe good to let someone else say something . You might want to reread the part where Anson moved in and attacked and killed her compatriot.

Stratus held up his hand. He had no patience left for a circle of recriminations. For a moment, he considered letting the tomb-robbers go, if only to end this squabbling. But the order of events bothered him. Until this conversation, he had thought that the Comet had caused the night's terrors, but the timing of the tomb-robbing was too coincidental. Perhaps a god was punishing the whole city for the actions of these few.

"Tell us what you know of the Comet, Cailyassa, for it did change course and pulse. Why would you suspect this? What do you know?"

There's no answer for a moment. She's still invisible so it's hard to tell if she's considering her answer or trying to sneak away. Just when you think she might actually be leaving she, instead, speaks up,

"I will tell you only this: I had reason to believe the Comet coincided with a ritual a specific ritual meant to cause a catastrophy. My information led me to believe it had something to do with this specific crypt. If you want to know more, I want assurances that you won't try to murder me as soon as I tell you. I want to take my associate's remains and leave here unharmed."

Anson can't see Cailyassa pointing at him as she speaks, but he knows she means him. She is scared, he surmises, and is looking for a way out. At the same time, he does his best to determine where precisely she is, as he holds up his hands (the fire sticks still safely tucked in one of the inside pockets of his yellow cloak.

"The catastrophe has struck. Take your companion and his remains, and leave. We mean you no harm, but safety, such as it is, will come for this town only from our lighting the beacons. Continue your grave robbing some other night. Tonight, we all live, if you leave now."

Benny and Max approach. Benny was glad the skull was defeat and was hoping that they wouldn't have to fight the grave robbers. If there wasn't an undead apocalypse, Benny could have considered going into a crypt to find riches, so he didn't judge them.

With his childish voice, but with wisdom beyond his years, he said "Before you leave, yes, please tell us more about the ritual and what you know. We won't hurt you. My companion only attacked because you seemed to be a threat. There are so few living now that we have to help one another."

As Deirdre listened, she considered carefully the words of Cailyassa.

“Before we let you go however, you must tell us what it is you took from here, and why. I will not tolerate any further desecrations of the dead.”
OOC: move spiritual weapon within striking distance of Cailyassa.
