Benny decides to join the others. He dismisses his spell, and with the agility of someone used to move around obstacles and climb on ledges, he easily clears the pit and joins the others, making sure many are in front of the dwarf. He doesn't trust the warrior.

Once closer, he inspects his companions to see who needs to be healed.

OOC: Max clasts guidance acrobatics, and moves towards the door where the invisible mage went.

Caer is grateful for Stratus' parry intervening to deflect most of the blow of the dwarf. He was about to ready another strike with the Blackstaff, but hears the dwarf's words as Stratus goes to find the spellcaster that Caer's Shadar-Kai senses had heard going through the portal.

Thinking quickly, he hisses at the dwarf.

She will leave you to die like the others. We are not here to fight you, but save everyone.

Caer quickly goes forward to find the spellcaster, hoping that these words, and the actions of the dwarf's supposed ally, might finally cause the recalcitrant tomb robber to stand down. As he moves into the new room, he focuses his heightened senses that were trained as a Forestal to discern where the spellcaster was hiding.

OOC:

Stratus stopped at the door and looked around, straining his ears to hear the footfalls of the woman over the sound of thumping from inside the sarcophagus.

OOC: Sure, I'll use my action to Search instead of dash. Got an 11 Perception. Not great.
 

"Thank you. I will try to just hold her, you will need to convince her to stop. But she may have mislead you, there will be another great evil out soon."

With that, Havoc rushes after others.

Ooc: he uses action to help finding the mage. Move as close to sarcophagus as he can
 

@Neurotic I moved you your full 50 next to the coffin.

Despite looking and listening, there's too much noise and commotion for Stratus to know where the tiefling went.

In response to Havoc and Caer, the warrior responds,

"I was paid to protect her. Two dead so far so I ain't doing so swell. If you lay a hand on her, I won't hold back."

It's a threat but, for now, he's lowered his weapon.

Havoc sprints into the room as the pounding gets louder. As he moves into the doorway to look for the tiefling, there's an arc of lighting and the lid of the stone coffin bursts off, sending shards of stone everywhere.1 You hear the grunt of a woman getting hit but you cannot pinpoint where the sound came from.

Rising out of the sarcophagus is the remnants of a skeleton - its body is nothing but bone-dust and only its skull remains. The skull, with its grim smile, is shrouded in green fire. It looks to Havoc as it rises up. It cackles,


"FREE! AT LAAAAST!!! KYUSS HAS FULFILLED HIS PROMISE!"

"Oh, that ain't good! Who's Kyuss?"

The skull floats until it is almost touching the ten foot ceiling and shoots fire from its eyes at Stratus and Havoc.3 But the creature is just getting its bearing and the bolts land nowhere near the targets.

Benny picks his way across the pit and finally makes it to the other side safely.

Hearing the commotion in the next room, Anson enters the room and makes his way to the chest. He turns to see the glowing skull at the other side of the room. Before he think, a blade shoots forth from his hand.

OOC: Move and (bonus) dash should get Anson beside the chest, even if he is slowed by the people in the door.
Assuming he gets there undisturbed, he will attack the Flameskull. I don't know if there is an ally adjacent (Caer?) -- if so, then Sneak attack damage would apply. If not, he shoots anyways.
If he doesn't make it to the chest (i.e. if he hits someone hiding or invisible, or sees someone hiding behind the chest and statue, or whatever), he will attack that person instead.)

One way or another, an attack goes off.

Attack: 1d20+5=23 (hit). for 1d6+3=4 points psychic damage, or 14 points damage if SA applies (fingers crossed).
 

Round 4
Havoc looks around for the girl but sees and hears nothing. He instead runs in and punches the skull in the face. A piece of bone chips off with the force of the hit. Distracted by the dwarf, Anson is able to land a well placed shot with his psychic dagger.

Deirdre moved up next to Caer and looked into the room. Seeing the floating skull, she once again called forth the sword of Corellon, willing it to strike it down. She then moved further into the room towards the closed door across from the sarcophagus.

OOC: Would have liked to try turning it but don't have enough movement to get within 30'of it and still have an action. Instead, Deirdre moves to the doorway and casts spiritual weapon and attacks with it as a bonus action. She then dashes towards the closed door in the room (60' move total).
Spiritual weapon: 1D20+5 = [19]+5 = 24
1D8+3 = [2]+3 = 5
