Not having any idea how the person died, Rothorm next leans down to examine the spilled mixture. When he tries to smell it he remembers he has no nose. Or lungs. Or knowledge of alchemy.

Even without eyes though, he can still read. He steps around the table and begins reading one of the open books.

Opening the Door

First Cass does a thorough examination of the door and lock. He finds no sign of a trap. Then he goes about the task of picking the lock. When he first begins, a needle comes flying out of the lock and imbeds itself in one of the halfling skeleton's finger bones. The glint of some sort of liquid is on the needle. He winces thinking it might be poisoned, but then remembers that he is dead. Poison probably won't effect him. He pulls the needle from his finger bone and continues working on the lock. After several minutes the door is finally unlocked.

"Excellent work, come let us explore and see what our master has bequeathed to us" Motioning for the Rogue to open the door Scorn steps through the portal into the next room.

OOC:Scorn has his shield and Morning Star in hand, prepared for battle.

"Wait a moment. Some magic has been done here. Maybe some trace of it still exists. Let me have a little while to concentrate. It may be that some of his artifacts left behind may be magical as well.

OOC: Averey casts Detect Magic, concentrating if necessary on any magical auras.

Joe stops and turns at Averey's words. He shuffles back to the shoulder of Averey as he casts his spell. "Tell us what you see!" Joe reminds him.

Dust awaits for Averey's results, and meanwhile takes a casual look at the two open books on the table, to see if they look any familiar.

[probably not entitled to a Bardic Lore check, unless the books are somehow famous, but just in case the check is at +1 only]

Averey casts his spell and begins searching the area for any lingering magical auras. Unfortunately either there never were any or what there was has completely faded away. Not even their own bodies appear magical.

The door remains closed but unlocked at the moment.

Examining the books reveals nothing. The text is too technical for Rothorm to decipher, however he is able to discern that they are extremely complicated books on alchemy. Perhaps if he knew more about the subject he could better decipher the text.

Dust tries to search his knowledge for anything that might be of use about the books but finds nothing of help.

OOC: Rothorm INT; Dust Bardic Knowledge

Ilsthyr says nothing but silently follows the group out, wary for any surprises.

OOC:
[sblock]Didn't Ilsthyr already pile the books into his bag?[/sblock]
