D&D 5E [IC] Uller's Out of the Abyss

Drum shudders and your head is filled with images of your swords pursuing him and driving him away. Then images of the same hopeless lonely wandering he communicated to you when he was first captured. Images of his home appear and then fade to blackness.

Whatever is in there, he fears it will cause you to drive him off and he will never see his home again. But he won't tell you what it is.

...however, so the elf decides to just observe for now and talk to some of the others. Particularly the curious creature who believes himself a god! What a strange being that is.

During the day's travel, Buppido confirmed that he is a god or at least an earthly manifestation of a god. He says he is here to ensure his plans are carried out. What those plans are, he won't share. He says if you knew, it wouldn't be fair.

The entire time you are talking to him, he is chuckling to himself. As if every thing he says is the punchline to some inside joke that only he gets.

Surana looks genuinely confused and a bit worried as she slowly slips the blades back into their scabbards. She glances toward the alcove, saying nothing.

After a moment, she appears to make up her mind, and shifts from crouching to fully sitting down.

"Ok, Drum. I trust you, and I won't go. I can't stop anyone else from looking, but whatever's in there, I'm taking you home."

She closes her eyes and sends him a vision of the loss of her own people, followed by her first recollection of Velkenvelve--Drum's own voice in her head. She silently shares her own loneliness, along with the knowledge that she can never go home again, and hopes he can begin to understand why getting him home is so important to her. Nothing in the alcove could change that.

Erevan shudders when Buppido keeps chuckling while the strange creature tells him about his supposed divinity, although the elf is not quite sure why. Is this what it feels like to be in the presence of a god? Then why would a deity get captured, supposedly as part of some plan? It doesn't make sense, and although Erevan -- who is named after an elven god! -- thinks he'll never truly understand the ways of any god, this doesn't feel right. He decided to keep a close eye on this one.

Near the grove of mushrooms, Erevan sighs. "I suppose Drum feels a sort of kinship with these giant toadstools. I understand he doesn't want us to intrude upon their world, so I say we move on." Silently the elf thinks to himself, We can always come back here if we need them.

If no one is going to go investigate the mushrooms you are able to rest for a bit without incident. The aches in your muscles are a bit relieved. The sores on your feet are still there but tolerable. Your loads are a bit lighter as you have two days supplies left. It is time to move on.

OOC:
Is your plan to drop to a more normal pace for this day? Let me know how you adjust things.

As we take a short rest, Ezraen goes around from person to person giving a reassuring smile or checking in on them to see how they are doing.

OOC: I'm cool with switching to the Normal pace today, per Ezraen's original plan. If we do that, Surana will switch to being a second Lookout up front (Perception +2) since Navigation would no longer be at disadvantage.

Also fine with another Fast day if the elves would prefer to press on. Whatever you guys want.

You trudge on for your second day of travel. This time at a bit of a more comfortable pace. Throughout your travel, Shuushar remains confident of your course and progress. Passages vary from narrow cracks to wide avenues. This time, water is more plentiful. You find two streams. Both end up being unguarded. Bertram is confident the first one is clean and drinkable. So you all are able to completely replenish your water supply there. The second one you find later in the day after you have drank some of your water. This one, no one can be sure is safe, but fortunately Orsik is able to call upon his Moradin and after a brief ritual tells you the water is safe to drink. So you fill up again for a second time, late in the day.

Both streams run parallel to the passages you are in and cannot be crossed or used to cover your trail unfortunately.

As you are getting ready to move after filling up the second time, Orsik looks around and panics a bit. "The gnomes! Where'd those blasted gnomes get to!" You all look about confused but within moments it becomes clear that Topsy and Turvy are gone!

They find a bare path up a very narrow and very dark side passage. Do you follow them to try to find them? If so, who follows? Who stays with the main group or does everyone follow?

Ezraen scowls, "Blast it! Bertram, Orsik, Klep, try and find us a place to camp out and hide. Erevan, Surana, let's find them before things go bad."

OOC: I think that this is an opportune time to help us as PCs gel a little bit. What say you?
