D&D 5E [IC] Uller's Out of the Abyss

OOC: As long as there is enough light for you to see, otherwise we'll need to light a torch. Best bring one along just in case... EDIT: Unlit, until we need it.

OOC:
Yep...it's dark. You could hang back a bit to let the elves move stealthily but be nearby enough to move to help. Without light though, following their path becomes tougher even for those with dark vision (and if you lose it, it's a DC 20 to find it again).

Eldeth chimes in: "That path is going to be hard to follow on this rocky ground. You might want to take Bert or me with ya!"

Sarith: "Don't go beyond the sound of this stream or you'll never find your way back. We can't afford to be separated. If you need help, we won't be able to hear you over the torrent!"

Ezraen nods sharply at the advice, Bertram, you and Surana have been working together a lot lately. Come with us. We'll be back soon. Use this time to rest.

OOC: Never mind stealth, we will just head that way listening for signs of the twins.

Orsik tosses you a pebble with light cast on it. "You'll need the light of the gods more than us."

You follow the trail for what must be several dozen yards through narrow passages. Without Bertram, you'd have lost it quickly, but with him you are able to pick it up again. The passages here seem to be a maze of smashed giant boulders. Like a massive force shattered the earth eons ago. There are many side passages and holes and piles of rock. Many paths seem to double back on one another.

Eventually the gnomes' trail leads under an outcropping of rock. It reminds you of an animal den you'd see on the surface. A ledge about 2' high with a low but wide passage underneath. You can hear the sound of Turvy's voice coming from inside. She is distraught and sounds like she is pleading with someone through her anguish and fear.

OOC: I assume you don't have Drum with you, but you can if you want...up to you...otherwise, no one speaks gnome so you can't understand what she is saying but she is clearly afraid and terribly sad.

OOC: Drum would've been left with the main party.

Unable to understand the panicked gnome's pleas, but cognizant of the danger they signal, Surana looks questioningly at Ezraen, as if asking if they should proceed or turn back.

Ezraen grins and tosses a wink, "Thank Moradin for me, Lathander appreciates him watching out for us."

OOC: Oh, I thought Topsy was the girl. :p

"Topsy? Turvy? What's wrong? Why'd you run off like that?" Ezraen calls out softly from outside the outcropping. "You had us worried."

OOC: Clearly at this point, Ezraen has forgotten that they may not speak Common. He speaks in soothing tones, and I am sure that they hear their names.

Erevan remembers the odd encounter with the gnomes yesterday -- was it yesterday? It's hard to tell in this sunless place. The elf motions with his drawn rapier for the others to be wary, and adds his own soothing voice. "Are you alright, little ones? Are we in danger? If not, you can come out now."

OOC: Trying to calm them down and aiding Ezraen, giving him advantage (or negating the disadvantage).

Yes, I was going to use persuasion (+6) but with DMAesh's perfect rolls, the only way is down. ;)
