D&D 5E [IC] Uller's Out of the Abyss

OOC: Fudge, okay. If I take the dash action to try and get in front of it, does it still get an opp attack while it's holding Sarith? And although I can't do it this turn, still wanna know: is it too big to grapple? Durn it...It can't dash...it attacked! That's what happens when I'm trying to do three things at once (install Ubuntu today because I'm sick of windows slowing down my old laptop). So it's only 10' from you. Still difficult terrain though (it's speed is 20') It seems unlikely it can attack while grasping Sarith because that takes 3 or 4 of it's tentacles. As long as you don't move out of it's reach it wouldn't get an OA anyway. You probably can't stop it from moving past you just by positioning...not without some help at least. It looks like it's built for squeezing and moving around tight spaces. You can probably grab it. It's big but not that big.

Surana's blood boils as the creature blithely ignores her attack and continues on. Snarling, she sheathes her shortsword and gives chase, grabbing onto the bleeding drow when she reaches them.

It's strange form leaves you unsure what to grab onto or how to go about it. It slips out of your grasp.

Sarith death save DC 10 [roll0]

Surana for a moment has thoughts of Sarith freeing himself and Jimjar plunging into darkness...then her freeing Sarith and Surana plunging into darkness. Others have similar thoughts.

Topsy and Turvy cling to each other and move out of the strange creature's grasp. Eldeth moves up and tosses a hand axe

The axe sinks in with a thud but she hangs back out of it's reach.

Bertram fires his crossbow [roll0] damage [roll1] but also stays out of reach. The bolt disappears into the creature it sinks so deep.

Derendil also hangs back and says "He's dying anyway. Maybe it is better to let him go?"

OOC: Ezraen is up.

"Not without a fight, my friend!" Ezraen replies as he joins Surana in the fight. The half-drow surges forward, sliding in low and stabs hard with his rapier!

The blade sinks deep and the thing starts flailing about but stubbornly holds its prey.

Orsik also rushes up and swings with his hammer. [roll0] damage [roll1]. The hammer slams it. Suddenly a spray of black stinging liquid sprays out from it in all directions and it simultaneously lurches away.

OOC: Surana, Ezraen and Orsik each make a DC 13 Dex save. On a failure you are blinded for 1 minute or until you spend an action clearing its ink out of your eyes. If you succeed you can make an OA. If it survives it will disappear down a hole about 15' from you. (it gets to dash as a bonus action when it inks).
