D&D 5E (2014) [IC] Uller's Out of the Abyss

Erevan smiles. His race's natural agility is a great boon in situations like this, and even though Shuushar has more problems navigating the path, the kuo toa knows this place. "We'll be allright," the elf reassures Ezraen. "How are you guys doing?" he asks the others, in the general direction of Surana.

Surana looks back briefly toward the direction of the elves' voices, but can't see beyond the small area lit by Orsik's spell.

Thinking about how high off the ground they are, she realizes this is the first time she's glad she can't see like the elves. She's a human, not a hawk, and humans belong on the ground. Although, wait, they're under the ground...

She lets the thought go in frustration.

"Ok so far," she says back to Erevan, smiling at Eldeth and hoping her discomfort doesn't show.

This goes on for many more hours. It starts to become physically exhausting. Finally you find an area that is a bit wider where there is room to comfortable sit and rest a bit.

Surana is sitting with Drum and "conversing" with him through mental images. Lately he's been like a moody toddler, prone to frustration and fear. Maybe he senses that he's starting to get closer to his own home. The images are of vistas lit by purple and green lights and myconid adults sitting in quiet contemplation among circles of their own kind. But you notice something...occasionally there are images of other creatures...humanoids sometimes, animals other times, milling about sort of in the background. The creatures move with an odd shuffling and covered by the odd orange pigment Sarith has and Surana begins to understand. These are slaves of some sort...Suddenly they are gone from the 'dream'...you realize that Drum noticed that you noticed and is actively hiding them. Everything else continues on as before. (He's trying to just act as if you didn't notice).

But then Drum's thoughts suddenly change. The image goes dark. There is foreboding. A presence. It is very near. An image of a chitinous hook or appendage, sinking into stone spikes into your mind. The hook is also covered in the orange coloring. Something is coming and Drum can sense it. He is flooding your mind with a desire to flee.

Right now just Surana. Normally he is able to communicate within 30' or so. But under some circumstances you've seen it work out to 200' at least in a limited capacity (especially the communication of emotions...the stronger the further the distance).

OOC: Ok, just wondering if he can selectively contact (since it is through spores) and if 'Van and Ez were close enough to also get those visions. Doo-dlee-doo. Don't know nuthin'! ;)

OOC: What does the terrain up ahead look like? As in, if we flee, are we going to have to rock-climb along a narrow path in a hurry? It might be better to just stay and fight in this wide area.

OOC: In that case, yeah, I think she'd rather fight here. A party this big in bad terrain isn't going to escape something that's noticed it.

She'll warn the others somethings's coming, get Drum back in her pack, and draw her weapons.

As you do Drum doubles then triples the image...indicating there are several of them, whatever they are.
