Iconic Dragon Minis - For Use In Game Or Just A Display Piece?

I noticed that a lot of people seem to be raving about the Iconic Dragons (i.e. Colossal Red Dragon, Gargantuan Black and Blue Dragons). Are you actually planning on using them in your D&D game or did you get them just for display?

Personally I think that they look cool but I don't think that I could justify spending that much money to get any of them since they would almost never see any use in my game.

I'm running Age of Worms, so likely, yes, I will be using them. And though they are dragons, they'll stand in for any Gargantuan/Collosal monster being faced. But I intended for them mostly to just be displayed.

Well I like to think my games go a little something like this

My players: "Okay, I guess we will open that next door."
Me with an evil grin: "On the other side of the door you find..."
My players: "not the Colossal Red Dragon again!!"
Me: "Yes!! The Colossal Red Dragon!!"
MY players: "But we're only third level!!"

Ya, we get a lot of use out of them :D

I absolutely intend to use them in actual play. Sucks that I have to wait for a group to get high enough level to take them on...

I'm actually planning on using the colossal red in a one-shot when my old gaming buddies from high school come back into town. Until then, it just gets to intimidate players by sitting on the shelf out of the box...

That's the problem that I would have. My PC's are currently 7th level. It will be a long time before they even face a Gargantuan Dragon considering they are CR 20+. On top of that is the fact that Dragons are very tough for their CR to begin with.

I'm running Age of Worms. A Gathering of Winds starts next session!

My freshly purchased Gargantuan Black is sitting on the entertainment unit. When I'm not looking, I think it paces back and forth, waiting for its moment...

The Garg Black Dragon sits on my shelf, guarding his hoard (my books) waiting for the players to get used to him.... then he will strike.

The blue wants to play but I have to buy him first.

The red is the big question for me. I doubt I would ever take a group to that level but I still want him. He could hoard over the entire room- not just the bookshelf.
