ICV2 Reports WotC Sues over Bogus M:TG Tournaments

Silly thieves. That's a lot of work for an average return of $10k/year.

9000 cards at 3 to $10 each is a bit more than $10,000 per year, considering that 9000 card total is from the last 10 months of their scam.

"Over 9,000 cards, including Promotional and Premium Cards distributed to the organizers and Reward Cards sent to players, were sent out by WotC during the 10-month period."

$27,000 to $90,000 right there.

Its even sillier than that. I doubt WotC would have caught the first guy that was doing it for since 2001. "Clifton reported 676 sanctioned events during his time as an organizer." That comes out to an average of 1 FNM/week, 1 other type of event every other week and <6 other events for the rest of the year, roughly.

Compare that with "Between that June kick-off and March of this year, 758 Magic events were reported at non-existent venues," which comes out to an average 76 events per month with no major uptick in Magic sales (either from distributors or being ordered from Wizards themselves).

I'm sorry but the first guy was atleast semi-smart in that he didn't draw extra attention to himself. His were basically a normal ordering person's regiment while the greedy person just went nuts. Were they really thinking they could get away with it?
