Idea for a different kind of Drow campaign

DMH

First Post
I bought Aria recently and one of the interesting ideas in it is playing families over time. I was thinking of a Drow campaign that starts 25,000 years ago (long before they turned evil and were driven underground). It would be interesting to see how player would react to black surface elves (because of the tropical habitat), more so playing them through the ages. They could shape the future of the Drow and stop the corruption or defeat (if they want to play evil drow).

The problem is the players, you tell them they are 'drow' they will act evil, so, you have to fool them in some way. The best way is have players create elves and template them within a time line of 25000 years, basicly at -25000 they had these abilities, at -20000 these, the at 15000 these, and so on, until you have todays drow.

You then have to pick periods to adventure in and the events you want to test player vs history on, say 20000 years ago Big Bad makes the deal with Lolth, this deal was the blood of royal babies, the players are envolved how? What is the effect the players have and how does that reflect on the game?

When I wanted Drow to be different, I modeled them after 'extreme' Aztec bits with the whole pyramids of carved steps with rivulets for the sacrifical blood to run down and numerous raidings and active capturing of nearby humanoids/monsters as well as strange and different weapons.

The players remembered those drow for years.

It's amazing what you can do with drow once you drop the whole Loth/spider thing.

It doesn't have to be drow for a family based game. They are the first playable race I thought of that has made some significant changes over time.

What other races would you run this idea with?
