Ideas for a drow.

So, not to hijack the thread but...

Druzzy't (or whatever) has ruined dual wielding scimitars forever. The obvious dervish build is finesse-scimitar-dualweilder, but try and bring that to a game and all you hear is "so you ripped off Dryzzet did ya?". C'mon, just because you weilding to frikkin' scimitars doesn't mean your trying to rip off some overscripted dark elf!

I know it. You know it. But you must see it from the average elf basher's point of view: They cannot let common sense get in the way of their obsession.

Additionally, by using hideous blow, you can combine your sneak attack damage with your eldritch blast damage.

Or, he could not use hideous blow and still get sneak attack damage with eldritch blast. Eldritch Blast requires a ranged touch attack. That's an attack roll. Sot it qualifies for sneak attack.

In dragon 330 there is an alternative to the normal drow race, personally I would use them.

They have strong ties to the umbra and are called the, 'umbragen' strangely enough ;)

I really like some of their racial feats and have been dieing to put them in my campaign but the players havent gone in that area just yet :(

I realize this may be outside the bounds of availability.. but hey, there it is..lol

I gotta go with the Rogue /Warlock mix. Would be an interesting concept, wouldn't mind seeing how it turns out myself.

If your not wanting to do the spellcaster thing, then try the rogue / scout mix. Sneak attack when your in melee or use your skirmish ability from a distance for additional damage. The skills have so much synergy, that you should still be able to max out ranks in many of the skills.

See if your DM will allow free multi-classing and pick a Drow Monk/Psion and get your groove on. Or, failing that, go Monk/Fighter and take all kinds of sexy feats that leave your opponents at your mercy.

Oh, and make sure you dual-wield all your monk weapons! *LOL*

This may be more info than you need, but pick up the KenzerCo (Kalamar) book on the Drow. It is really good, and presents them in a much less cliche'd fashion. (I wasn't going to get the book, until I started reading it at the store....very cool.) I should give you plenty of ideas.

unlike any other class who goes for AC? lol.. let me guess, he also ignored spell durations and maybe even forgot to take into account for same bonus types not stacking ;)

Are you playing 3.0 or 3.5? I cant see where you answered other than saying '3rd' which could mean either or a combination of both. It really does change what would be a good option and what sort of builds to make, quite a few things changed between the editions.

the DM won't allow a psion because someone had one and its AC was godly.

Which is simply fixed by changing intertial armour.

There are some problem spells that scale too well, but they can be taken care of.

And high AC isn't everything, really.

cleric of gaunadaur (evil slime is teh roxxor!)

I still have the idea of my drow druid/slimelord of Ghaunadaur on back log. (or was it slimelord? That PrC where you turn into a slime yourself in the end)

Of course, he'd have to be stone cold crazy. Whenever he found a shrine, he would first desecrate it and unhollow it in the name of Ghaunadaur, and then lay himself on it, offering himself as a sacrifice, dagger to the own neck with the words "I want to serve thee, lord, do you accept this sacrifice..... No? Well, some other time then."

It would become pretty standard procedure over the levels - until he would get the last PrC level and turn into an ooze himself. At this time, he would seek out another altair, and this time, he'd say: "I want to serve thee, lord, do you accept this sacrifice..... Yes? Here I come, lord" cutting his own throat. Of course, he would not die from the blood loss, but would bleed out so his blood would be replaced by ooze. I think that would kreep out the players big time.
